Minutes for Norwich Baseball Stadium Authority Meeting minutes Wednesday June 11, 2014 (6:00 p.m.) City Hall, Norwich 1. Call to Order by Chairperson, Mike Jewell MJ (6:00 p.m.) NBSA Members Present: Sean Ryan, SR; Gary Carignan, GC; Tom Cummings, TC; Bob Demars, BD Members Absent: Gary Schnip, GS; Peter Maneri, PM; Peter Slocum PS Also Present: CT Tigers Representative, Eric Knighton, EK 2. Review of May 14, 2014 NBSA meeting minutes: Motion made by BD seconded by TC passed (5-0) to accept meeting minutes as presented. 3. Public Comment: None 4. Chairman’s Report a. Correspondence i. Sent: Fire Marshall report to all authority members ii. Received: Notice that Atty. Glenn Carberry will present a history of Dodd stadium to the City Council on Monday July 7, 2014 b. Budget Committee Report: PM was not available to review the NBSA income statements. No statements were available. MJ to contact Tony Medeira for statements. 5. Operations Committee: (TC/CT Tigers Representative, EK). a. TC represents that there are a few things to report concerning the Stadium. i. HVAC units need to be addressed ii. Fire Marshall signed off on the sprinkler system 6. Organizations Monthly Report: EK reports on the following: i. 75 high school and college games held at Dodd this season ii. High School Shoreline conference and ECC tournament held at Dodd iii. College NEC tournament to return in 2015 iv. Season opener away next Friday then home opener on the 18th Grease traps still need to be v. Window repairs in press box are working out well. vi. A leak was found during the last rain storm in the front of the press box vii. In last rainstorm, a sink hole formed in the right field corner of the stadium. Something needs to be done to repair. viii. Ventilation units not yet fully repaired. Belts replaced by NPU; fan motors need to be addressed and NPU doesn’t do that. GC to provide additional information. ix. Flood light at front of stadium getting replaced this week 7. Old Business: a. MJ mentions the ongoing need of two new members. Each board member will explore possibilities and report back to the board and submit names to the City Council. There are interested parties that will be pursued and submitted for approval by the City Council b. TC and GS are continuing to gather information for stadium repairs and maintenance that The Authority will present to the city as its capital improvement needs. GS will author a letter to be provided to MJ to be sent to the Mayor, City Manager and City Council. c. MJ asked if the grease traps still need to be done? EK said they have not yet been done. It was recommended during the May meeting that one be done this season and the one on the first base side of the stadium be the one this year. 8. New Business: None 9. Adjournment: Motion made by GC seconded by BD to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed unanimously (5-0) at 6:26 p.m. Next meeting: July 9, 2014, 6:00 p.m. to be held at Dodd Stadium in the Suite Level.
