COMMISSION ON THE CITY PLAN Tuesday, March 29, 2022, 12:00 PM Virtual Meeting NORWICH, CT CALL TO ORDER: Chair Frank Manfredi called the meeting to order at 12:05 PM. ROLL CALL AND SEATING OF ALTERNATES: Present: Chairman Frank Manfredi, Michael Lahan, and Kathy Warzecha Absent: Vice Chairman Les King Others Present: Assistant City Planner Dan Daniska NEW BUSINESS: Referral from City Council: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 9 DEFINITIONS, SECTION 9.2 DEFINED TERMS, OF THE ZONING REGULATIONS TO ADD MANUFACTURING RELATED TERMS, INCLUDING MANUFACTURING, ADVANCED MANUFACTURING, FOOD MANUFACTURING, PRECISION MANUFACTURING, RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT, AND RESEARCH LABORATORIES Chairman Manfredi asked Dan Daniska to read the referral and provided a brief overview as to why it was on the agenda. Chairman Manfredi explained that the definitions were being updated to include various forms of manufacturing. Kathy Warzecha questioned the purpose of the amendment. Chairman Manfredi responded that he believed that it was to add the information to the definitions and that it had to do with cannabis manufacturing. Assistant City Planner Dan Daniska confirmed that Chairman Manfredi was correct. Michael Lahan made a motion to forward a favorable referral to the City Council regarding the amendment. Reason: The definition amendment is consistent with the POCD to encourage economic development opportunities. Kathy Warzecha seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
