BOARD OF REVIEW, DANGEROUS BUILDINGS MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 2, 2009 REGULAR MEETING Committee members present: Chairman Gary Schnip, Sofee Noblick, Jim Quarto and Andy Zeeman. Committee members not present: Richard Caron Others present: James Troeger, Ed Martin and Tianne Phoenix Curtis The meeting was called to order at 5:30. A quorum was present and all members present were voting. Agenda items 1, 2 & 3: The minutes of the October 28, 2009 meeting were reviewed. Upon motion by Jim Quarto and second by Sofee Noblick, the Committee voted unanimously to approve the minutes as submitted. 4. Communications: Gary Schnip stated that he had received no correspondence. 5. Blight updates/concerns: 1. 60 Broad Street: Jim Troeger stated that he had spoken to a representative of the bank (owner of record) who had said they were in contact with Salecon for an estimate to demolish the barn in the rear of the property. 2. 102 Stonington Road: James Troeger stated that his office had not received a response to the previously sent Notice of Violation, therefore, a citation will be issued. 3. 45 Uncas Street: James Troeger brought the Board up to date on the status of the dilapidated garage, and noted a court order would be required for the City to demolish the barn. James Troeger stated that it was likely the structure would not survive the snow loads of the approaching winter. 4. Hale Mill – 140 Yantic Road: Gary Schnip stated he had spoken with City Planner Michael Schaefer, and Mr. Schaefer had said he is actively working on a list of bonded sites. Gary Schnip noted he had requested a copy of said list once it had been completed. 5. Sanctuary of Love – 62 North Main Street: Ed Martin stated he would ask the owner of record to cut back the sumac 6. Other: The Board discussed collaborating with the new Council and the possibility of a workshop with Council, Corporation Counsel and the Board. 6. Public Comments: None 7.
