DISC GOLF SUBCOMMITTEE A SUBCOMMITTEE OF THE MOHEGAN PARK IMPROVEMENT & DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE Wednesday, January 23, 2019 – 7:00 P.M. City Hall Room 321 100 Broadway Norwich, CT Special Meeting DRAFT Minutes 1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Kyle Seitz at 7:06 pm. Mohegan Park Improvement committee members present; Beryl Fishbone, Sam Browning, Samantha Ventura, Rebecca Melucci, Kyle Seitz. Other members in attendance; Josh Perry, Lynn Perry, Corey Carlson, Greg Wintrob 2. Official Correspondence: None 3. Citizen Comments: None 4. New. Business: a. Motion by Beryl Fishbone to appoint all interested attending members to the Disc golf subcommittee. Seconded by Kyle Seitz and voted unanimously by all committee members. A motion by Beryl Fishbone to appoint Kyle Seitz as chairman of the subcommittee. Seconded by Samantha Ventura and voted unanimously. Josh Perry was appointed as subcommittee secretary. b. All members in agreement to plan and develop a 9-hole course at the Wilderness Rd site. Norwich Public Works to oversee the construction of a 12-16 car parking lot at or near the course location. Corey Carlson confirmed his ability to purchase Disc Catcher baskets at a discounted 300$ per basket. 5’x12’ Tee pad construction options ranging from concrete to AstroTurf were discussed. Other amenities needed for the course are; individual Tee signs, a course Kiosk, trash/recycling receptacles, benches and restroom facilities. c. Kyle Seitz to review and update the Fundraising flyer to be distributed to area business. A budget of 20k for the project was discussed. 10k to come via funds from the Mohegan Park Development committee for the construction of the parking lot. An expected budget of $1000 per hole. Sam Browning will verify and secure the documents indicating the 501c or 501c3 status of the accounts through the City of Norwich. Fundraising strategies open to all businesses. Discussed the possibility of offering sponsorship opportunities with a priority for local business then expanding to larger businesses. d. Josh Perry and Corey Carlson will be looking into community outreach and public education strategies and the availability of a social media presence. e. Subcommittee members decided to meet monthly on every second Wednesday at 6:30 pm in rm. 335 at City Hall. 6. Adjournment: A motion was made to adjourn by Sam Browning, seconded by Kyle Seitz and voted unanimously by the committee. Meeting adjourned at 8:31pm.
