DISC GOLF SUBCOMMITTEE A SUBCOMMITTEE OF THE MOHEGAN PARK IMPROVEMENT & DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE Wednesday, February 13, 2019 – 6:30 P.M. Basement Conference Room 23 Union St. Norwich, CT Special Meeting DRAFT Minutes 1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Kyle Seitz at 6:34pm. Present; Kyle Seitz, Beryl Fishbone, Sam Browning, Samantha Ventura, Josh Perry, Greg Winthrop, Lynn Perry Absent; Rebecca Melucci, Corey Carlson 2. Official Correspondence: Kyle received an email from Norwich Public Works Director Ryan Thompson discussing parking lot construction and scheduling. 3. Citizen Comments: None 4. Old business: A motion was made by Beryl to approve to draft minutes from the January 23, 2019 meeting. The motion was seconded by Kyle and unanimously passed. a. Course Planning & Development i. Greg recommending walking the site with interested member to draft an accurate course layout. Committee members will be researching options to assist in planning and visualization of the course. ii. Kyle and Ryan discussed and confirmed the availability of a port-a-potty style facility to be allowed and maintained at the site. Samantha will research the possibility of contacting Norwich tech to construct a 3 sided wooded structure to house the facility. iii. Committee members in agreement to build 9 rubber pad style tee boxes. Greg will be gathering the information needed for accurate pricing. b. Course Fundraising Update i. Members are still working to finalize the fundraising solicitation form to be distributed to potential donors. ii. Sam Browning was able to provide information about the city’s nonprofit accounts. c. Community Outreach & Public Outreach i. Josh will be looking into starting a social media presence and creating content.  ii. Members had a discussion about the many public events and festivals held in the city to promote the sport and course. iii. Corey is currently organizing strategies to approach school officials and the rec department about the incorporation of the sport and course into youth activities. 4. New Business: Coucil members agreed that the course at the proposed site will be called Mohegan Park Disc Golf - Wilderness Course. 5. Adjournment: A motion to adjourn was made by Kyle and seconded by Sam Browning. The meeting adjourned at 7:38pm.
