Greeneville NRZ meeting minutes
June 1, 2016
6:00 p.m.
Attending: Pete Procko, Shiela Hayes, Hannah Stover, Caleb Stover, Aerial Long, Rev. Christopher Rogalski, Henry
Fidrych, Stan Kaplan, Elijah Haith, Zechariah Stover
New Business:
Carnival: Pete Procko was approached by Bob Adams who does the Rotary carnival with the idea of a carnival in
August at Nippy's Field sponsored by the Greeneville NRZ, the Taftville Neighborhood Watch, and the Norwich
Police Dept. Neighborhood Patrol; he will organize it.
Old Business:
Heads up: Music in the Park (at the Greeneville Playground) June 17 and 24.
Greeneville Appreciation Night (official name tbd), Saturday night, September 5: Pete Lehman, chair; door open
at 5pm, dinner at 6pm, $10/person, 122 seat capacity at the Divine Providence Church (which has a full kitchen);
5 awards, Greeneville Person of the Year and Firefighter, Police officer, Veteran, and Educator of the Year; a
planning meeting June 27 at the firehouse community room; organization and cooking are taken care of, some
volunteers needed.
NRZ Business Forum: A success. Should it be an annual event? quarterly? at different business locations? It was
suggested that we do it twice a year in December and June, and that we contribute food (potluck?) rather than
(Pete) purchasing it.
Noted: an effort to attract younger members to the NRZ, and to Greeneville, "My Greeneville;" also, new
businesses with younger business owners.
Hydrant Painting Contest: Shiela presented the application package and press release noting added awards for
youth up to age 14 for the categories 1) historical Greeneville, 2) Surrounding Area, and 3) Colorful/Abstract.
Hydrants removed or being fixed, including painted ones--Pete will find out.
