1. Call to order – Chairman J.P. Mereen called the February 26 2013 meeting to order at
5:32 P.M.
2. Determination of Quorum
It was determined a quorum was present.
3. Approval of Minutes
Minutes of January 22, 2012 meeting, motion to accept with corrections-7E Date should
be Friday May 3rd, C. Jaskiewicz, 2nd T. Braddock, motion carried with L. Miner
abstaining due to absence.
4. Citizen Comment
None
5. Correspondence
a. Weise site plan modification application to DEEP-G. Steadman will be in contact with
DEEP to see if any action is required by the HMC. J. Brennan to distribute an electronic
copy for HMC members’ review. Motion to receive report, T. Braddock, 2nd A. Bergren,
motion carried unanimously.
b. January Budget Report-motion to accept, R. Benoit, 2nd T. Braddock, motion carried
unanimously.

7. Old Business
a. River Trails map grant application
b. Installation of a “harbor cam”-After some research, G. Martin does not recommend the
wireless option. The higher end Panasonic version appears to be the best option. JP
Mereen is still trying to reach Channel 3 regarding a camera covering the Harbor.
c. Fundraising idea update –C. Jaskiewicz and L. Miner have all of the details worked out
for ticket sale and production. The max tickets sold should be 180. Ben Lathrop will
distribute a flyer. Donations for the auction are still being solicited. The t-shirt idea
“Norwich Rocks” will be further explored at the next meeting.
d. Thames River Spring Tournament- G. Martin has a few details to work out before the
final DEEP permit is pulled. He is still working out parking logistics and timelines. He
will speak to the City Manager about utilizing the ITC. He is looking in to a shuttle for
people that parked off site. The City Manager will look into using the PW van. The weigh
in may be located at Thayer’s or the Park. Thayer’s is lending a scale for the event. He is
still looking for volunteers for either the start up or end. C. Jaskiewick volunteered to
drive the shuttle and T. Braddock offered to work at the event.
e. Rock the Docks- 6 bands have committed and funding appears to be available for those
6 bands. A seventh night may be added. Old Tymes will be taking care of the liquor.

a. Press Conference was a success

The Annual meeting of the CTHMA date for re-schedule is still in the works. G.
Steadman should have more information about this for the March HMC meeting. The CT
Maritime Commission will put the Norwich HMC on their agenda when the HMC are
ready, but they most likely will not come to Norwich. The HMC will have to go to New
London.

J. Vincent reported that the Yantic River Greenway Designation is in process. Norwich
has been successful at securing the CT Greenway Council Annual event on May 31st to
be held under the tent in the Harbor. He would like to offer kayak tours to attendees. T.
Braddock asked if cooking can be done. J. Vincent will check into this.
L. Miner suggested having EMS as a sponsor and to bring people out in boats. J. Vincent
stated that they are trying to get Danielson Outfitters to do this.
The HMC will present the initiatives underway.
G. Martin discussed the fishing blog and what he would like to include for content.
