NORWICH ICE RINK AUTHORITY MINUTES FROM MEETING HELD MAY 21, 2009 Authority Attendance: Mike Goldblatt, Mike Schermerhorn, Judy Deglin, Rich Wolak, and Doug Barlow Absent: Cheryl Ritacco, Dean Pfeifer Guest: Jim Sanca Meeting was called to order by Mike Goldblatt at 6:05. A quorum was present. Minutes from April, submitted by Cheryl Ritacco in absentia, were read and approved. Motion to accept by Judi Deglin; seconded by Mike Schermerhorn. Public Comments There were no public comments Correspondence There was no correspondence Reports Manager Jim Sanca reported on the following:  There are 150 students in the Spring Learn to Skate Program. The Norwich Skating School has 55 active members. 16 skaters will be attending the 50th Ice Skating Institute (ISI) in Florida. 51 members will compete at ISI District 1 Championships in Massachusetts at the end of June.  Tryouts for Southeastern Connecticut Youth Hockey were held on April 4th and 5th. There will be the same number of teams as last year. Although there were also tryouts for girls, there were not enough participants to field a team.  Jim Sanca spoke to Griffin Youth and they are merging with a league from Auburn, MA.   The Ice Dog program (Columbia Youth Hockey) is interested in using the Rink for practice ice. Jim will also contact the Bolton/Coventry/Lyman League  The rink will collect $190/hr for NFA’s use of the rink. The rink will also collect the gate.  Spring Clinics are finishing up  The rink continues to run in the black Old Business There was no old business New Business Mike has been in touch with Rich Bazinet, who has experience in the food service Industry, about running the concession stand.
