Minutes from the January meeting were reviewed. It was noted that in the last months minutes RichWolak had been mistakenlybeen referred to as Mike Wolak. The change was noted and the April minutes were unanimously approved. Public Comments There were no public comments Correspondence There was no correspondence Reports Mia Sanca reported on the following: • Jim Sanca with the help of a licensed plumber replaced many sprinkler heads in the buildingbecause of a recall on these fixtures. The o-rings were failing and the manufacturer was out of business. Jim replaced them for $4000.00 but had been quotedby another plumbing firm $9000.00 to do the work. This was a capital improvement. • Mia wanted to remind everyone that Norwich residents skate free the first Saturday of the month except July, December and January. Public skate rates will be $3.00 for admission and $3.00 for skate rental at all other times. • Norwich Skating School is preparing for District Championships that will be held on the Cape and the World Championships that wall be held in Marlboro, Ma. • Southeastern Connecticut Youth Hockey was forced to have a midget tryout since they had to many players sign up for the team. It was reported that they had 20 mites sign up for their house teams after the tryouts. • The learn to skate program now has ten people signed up for their 7:30 am adult freestvle class and seven students enrolled in their Introduction to Learn to Play 06/21/2010 14:39 8608922559 NORWICH.ICERINK PAGE 02/02 Hockey program. Power skate on Tuesdays now has twelve girls and boys and Learn toSkate has moved toTuesdays from Sunday with twenty five skaters. The Learn to Compete program on Thursday night has six future free style participants. An AED has been donated byEvelyn Pontbriant in memory ofher son Larry Pontbriant. This is something the Fink has wanted to obtain but the supply and $1500.00 price tagmade it hardto acquire. The Integrated Day charter School is skating atthe rink weekly for twenty minutes for four weeks. , . . 1 Mia andTheresa presented theboard with anin-depth report explaining the recent decline inrevenue onthe figure skating side ofthebudget. Fifty five freestyle skaters were tracked with how much ice they had purchased in the year 2008/2009 vs. 2009/2010. Because ofthe economy, coaching decisions, graduating seniors, moving from the area and other reasons the rink lost approximately $14000.00. BUDGET • The budget was reviewed andvarious line items were discussed. The April 2010 numbers were much better than the March 2010.
