NORWICH ICE RINK AUTHORITY MINUTES FROM MEETING HELD July 22, 2010 Authority Attendance: Mike Goldblatt, Doug Barlow, Rich Wolak, and Cheryl Ritacco Absent: Mike Schermerhorn Guest: Jim Sanca, and Mike Arnone MINUTES Meeting was called to order by Michael Goldblatt at 6:14 pm, a quorum was present. Minutes from the June meeting were reviewed. The June minutes were unanimously approved. Public Comments There were no public comments Correspondence There was no correspondence Reports Jim Sanca reported on the following: • There are 105 students in the Learn to Skate summer session, a respectable number for summer • Figure skating camps have seen good attendance numbers • Norwich Skating School currently has 55 members. Participating skaters placed 2nd at the 2010 New England District 1 Championships in Cape Code, MA. The school will be participating at the ISI World Championships held in Marlboro, MA mid July. 44 members will be attending • Bernie Cassell hockey camps continue through the summer with excellent numbers in attendance • Summer Hockey Camp begins in August with 30 skaters already registered. Rink expects to get another 30 participants • Rink is offering a summer skating promotion where admission and skate rental is reduced. Attendance has increased by 300 this July compared to July 09 • Figure skating numbers for FY 09-10 were down significantly but the outlook is encouraging for the upcoming FY. A lot of skaters are on the cusp of becoming more committed skaters which will increase demand for ice time  • The Rink ended the 09-10 FY in the black, with even greater optimism for 2010- 2011 New Business It was suggested that an ad be created to recruit two new board members.
