NORWICH ICE RINK AUTHORITY MINUTES FROM MEETING HELD DECEMBER 16, 2010 Authority Attendance: Mike Goldblatt, Mike Schermerhorn, Doug Barlow, Rich Wolak and Cheryl Ritacco Guest: Jim Sanca and Mike Arnone MINUTES Meeting was called to order by Michael Goldblatt at 6:15 pm, a quorum was present. Minutes from the November meeting were reviewed. The minutes were unanimously approved. It was also noted that the approved October minutes previously sent to the city were revised and reapproved via email vote. Revised minutes were sent to Tony Madeira. Public Comments There were no public comments Correspondence There was no correspondence Reports Jim Sanca reported on the following: • St Thomas More and St Bernards/NFA/Bacon hockey teams have started their season. • St Bernards/NFA/Bacon have agreed to pay $335 for ice and keep gate collected during games • Learn to Skate new session begins January 16th. Two synchronized teams will be competing in Marlborough, MA mid January • The Rink continues to contact local hotels and restaurants for sponsorships during the 2011 New England District 1 Championship • Late February/ early March, The Rink will hold an in-house Basic Skills competition • The spring skating show will now be “Journey with Little Mermaid on Ice. The show is scheduled for April 1 & 2 • “First Snow” holiday ice show was a success. The Rink grossed $4,000 in ticket sales and sponsorships for the 2 performances • The Rink participated in the Norwich Holiday Parade and won “best school” entry for a float • Public skate hours have been extended for winter vacation  • Tentatively there are 2 new adult hockey tournaments scheduled in May • Jim Sanca will present a report to The Rink Authority outlining a scheduling plan should the rink decide to restrict hours or shut down during off peak time in the year New Business There was no new business Old Business Leslie Christie has been invited to the January Rink Authority meeting where she will have the opportunity to present her perspective and concerns to Authority members The meeting was adjourned at 7:20pm.
