NORWICH ICE RINK AUTHORITY MINUTES FROM SPECIAL MEETING HELD April 3, 2013 Authority Attendance: Pete Desaulniers, Cheryl Ritacco, Joann Beghul, and Stephanie Davis Absent: Mike Goldblatt Guest: Roger Moss, Shannon Fitzgerald Meeting was called to order by Pete Desaulniers at 7:09 pm, a quorum was present. JoAnn Beghul made a motion to accept and review communications from Chris Morrello, Bonnie Torres and Erich Banwell. Cheryl Ritacco seconded the motion; a vote took place and the motion passed unanimously. JoAnn Beghul made a motion to accept the resignations of Ashley Smith as Learn to Skate Director, Matthew Kohler, Rink employee and Authority member, Patrice Jaskewitz. Stephanie Davis seconded the motion; a vote took place and the motion passed unanimously. Cheryl Ritacco made a motion to accept repair invoices accrued during Rink closure for National Refrigeration, Alpine Environmental, Shoreline Sanitation, Northeast Painting and Jet Ice, totaling $74, 209.47. JoAnn Beghul seconded the motion; a vote took place and the motion passed unanimously. Pete Desaulniers added that the invoices would be sent to City of Norwich Finance for payment. JoAnn Beghul made a motion to accept invoice resolutions for NFA/St Bernards/Bacon Hockey team, Southeastern Connecticut Youth Hockey and Rose City Warriors for missed time, loss of tournament revenue and goodwill due to Rink closure. Proposed resolutions were as follows: • NFA/St Bernards/Bacon Hockey Team - two hours of compensation ice for relocation during the closing and an additional four hours of goodwill compensation ice, all to be used by the end of 2013 • Southeastern Connecticut Youth Hockey - six hours of compensation ice for relocation and an additional four hours of compensation ice for tournament revenue loss during the closing, all to be used by the end of 2013 ! ! • Rose City Warriors - four hours of compensation ice for tournament revenue loss during the closing, all to be used by the end of 2013 Stephanie Davis seconded the motion; a vote took place and the motion passed unanimously. JoAnn Beghul made a motion to accept proposed new reduced off season ice rates for the period of April 4 – August 31, 3013. New proposed rates are as follows: • Monday – Friday o 5a - 8a $150 o 8a - 3p $175 o 3p - 12a $225 • Saturday – Sunday o 5a - 8a $200 o 8a - 12a $225 Stephanie Davis seconded the motion; a vote took place and the motion passed unanimously. All current paid contracts will be adjusted as necessary to reflect new rates during the designated dates. Shannon Fitzgerald confirmed that rates would cover operating costs. Cheryl Ritacco made a motion to accept workout room rental contract for $250/month for the period of May 1 – July 31, 2013. Contract agreement is between the Rink and Stephanie Bassham. JoAnn Beghul seconded the motion; a vote took place and the motion passed unanimously. Pete Desaulniers brought to the Authority’s attention that budget for FY 2013-2014 needs to be completed and presented to City Council on April 29, 2013 With a motion by Cheryl Ritacco and seconded by Stephanie Davis the meeting was adjourned at 7:21pm.
