Norwich Ice Rink Authority Minutes from Emergency Meeting May 7, 2013 Authority Attendance: Pete Desaulneirs, Cheryl Ritacco, JoAnn Beghul, and Stephanie Davis Absent: Mike Goldblatt Guests: Mike Driscoll, Shannon Fitzgerald Meeting was called to order at 7:08pm by Pete Desaulneirs. Quorum was present. New Business: A special meeting of the Norwich Ice Rink Authority was called to discuss the breakdown of the rink compressor, which occurred on May 6, 2013. Rink staff called in National Refrigeration after an alarm was activated indicating a problem with the system. The compressor was shut down before any damage could spread beyond the drum of the compressor. Pete Desaulneirs has requested an estimate from National Refrigeration to: 1) Open up the system and assess the problem; 2) Repair the system. Pete Desaulneirs added that the cost to open the system will roll into the repair bill should National Refrigeration be awarded the job. A motion was made by Cheryl Ritacco to accept a bid from National Refrigeration if the cost does not exceed $4,000 to open up the system and assess the problem. JoAnn Beghul seconded the motion. No further discussion took place and the motion was passed unanimously. RFPs for the cooling system are due by May 8, 2013 at 3pm into the city. The Authority will review together at a time TBD. Shannon Fitzgerald has notified all rink clients of the temporary shutdown via phone or email. It was noted that communication is key during this time and that the Rink must continue to keep an open dialogue with all affected parties on a regular basis throughout this process.
