Ice Arena Authority

NORWICH ICE ARENA AUTHORITY MINUTES FROM MEETING HELD September 16th 2015 Authority Attendance: Pete Desaulniers, JoAnn Beguhl, Cheryl Ritacco, Gary Makowicki, Angela Duhaime Absent: Mark Bettencourt Guests: Tony Maderia, Lisa Fedick, and John Ferguson Meeting was called to order by Pete Desaulniers at 7:00 pm, a quorum was present. Review of the Minutes from August 19, 2015: Gary Makowicki made a motion to approve the minutes from August 19th 2015, JoAnn Beghul seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Public Comments There were no public comments. Correspondence The authority will honor the old punch card amount of $43.75 in the form of a gift card at the Ice Arena for the individual who had inquired via previous correspondence. A gift certificate will be issued through the Ice Rink and mailed to the customer from the Ice Authority. The Ice Arena Authority will reimburse the cost to the Ice Rink. JoAnn Beguhl made a motion to approve the payment and Cheryl Ritacco seconded the motion, which was passed unanimously. Old Business A. It was suggested that the items in storage be donated to local police and/or fire officials. Tony will follow up to see if arrangements can be made. B. There were no updates regarding the documentation for the outstanding snow removal expense requested through previous correspondence. C. The Pro Shop is in full operation and the snack bar will be managed through Center Ice. They are currently in the process of obtaining health permits and updating all appliance and codes. D. The September 1st financials are delayed and are expected within the next week. Lisa Fedick shared the Point-Of-Sale reports and noted they are available at any time for the Authority. At this time audited financial reports will be the only formal reporting necessary to the Authority. E. Pete will follow up with the issues regarding the roof and the gutters at the next Public Works Committee Meeting. New Business A. The Authority members discussed inviting the council members down for a walk through at the Arena once the snack bar is up and running. B. Gary inquired about any programs or partnerships that could assist youth membership at the Ice Arena. The Authority discussed options such as pursuing grant funding. Angela is a member of the Norwich Prevention Council and would bring up the possibility at the next meeting about possibly supporting a youth program in collaboration with Norwich Pubic Schools. Update from Management Management provided an update of all ongoing activities. The Bulletin was also present at the meeting and will cover the upcoming events in the paper. The Norwich Ice Arena website also has a calendar of events for anyone who is interested. Tony Maderia also offered to help share information regarding events when possible through the city website.
