Mohegan Park Improvement & Development Advisory Committee - Disbanded Feb 01, 2025

Mohegan Park Improvement and Development Committee 5/14/09 Meeting called to order at 5:30 pm. Present: Alderman Jon Jacaruso, Kevin Crowley, Kerry Bilda, Brandon Hyde (Chair) Excused: Peter Desaulniers Minutes of 3/14/09: Tabled until July meeting Financial Report: J Jacaruso reported no additional monies will be put into the MPIDC account this fiscal year. The $ 90,000.00 will not be taken out and will remain there. Financial report accepted; K Crowley, J Jacaruso 2nd. New Business: Trails- Discussion held on trails in Mohegan Park. K Crowley stated he, along with volunteers from the NFA Cross Country team, will be working on fixing the trails from the ice skating pond to the entrance of the Main parking lot. Kevin stated there are approximately 600 yards of trail that need to be resurfaced. Kevin will be looking for the Public Works Department to deliver dirt and wood chips as they have done in the past. Discussion held on whether committee should form a “Trail Day/ trail club” to generate volunteer assistance with the work being done. Kevin stated the NFA Cross Country team uses the hours they work as part of a community service project through the school. Kevin stated he should be set with the help he has already lined up. Discussion held on the need to define borders of Mohegan Park and the Chelsea Garden project in the southwestern corner of the park. This will be important as the committee looks to clear/ rehabilitate more trail space in that area. J Jacaruso stated the goal would be to have a “master plan” of all park trails. Committee members left the lakeside pavilion and walked around the swimming pond trail, discussing brush clearing that may need to be done and places where benches would be suitable.
