City of Norwich Mohegan Park Improvement and Development Committee Meeting Minutes Meeting held 7/14/2011 In attendance: Chairman Brandon Hyde, Alderwoman Deb Hinchey, Alderman Pete Desauliners, Kevin Crowley. Public Works Director Barry Ellison also present as ex- officio member. Minutes from last meeting were not available. Motion was made by Alderwoman Hinchey to suspend the rules and present minutes at the next meeting. Motion was seconded Alderman Desauliners. No further discussion, motion passed unanimously. Financial report was made available. Fund balance as of 6/30/2011 is $125,322.34 Motion to accept by Kevin Crowley and seconded by Alderwoman Hinchey. No further discussion, motion passed unanimously. Old Business- Kevin Crowley reported that the he has worked on opening more trails. Mr. Crowley has marked spots for Publics Works, that he needs NPW’s assistance. New Business- Kevin Crowley had presented a resolution concerning the permanent closure of a section of Mohegan Park Road adjacent to the Mohegan Park Center. The original resolution was discussed and amended to read as follows: We the members of the (MPIDAC) Mohegan Park Improvement and Development Advisory Committee endorse and support the permanent closure of a section of Mohegan Park Rd., adjacent to the Park Center. For the purpose of creating a safer recreational environment, which in turn will provide more open space for family activities such as picnicking and future expansion of the playground area. A motion was made by Kevin Crowley to have the Chairman, draft a letter on behalf of the MPIDC, to the Norwich City Counsel presenting and unanimously supporting the resolution. Alderman Desauliners seconded the motion, no further discussion was made and motion passed unanimously. Letter attached. No other business was presented. Resolution: We the members of the (MPIDAC) Mohegan Park Improvement and Development Advisory Committee endorse and support the permanent closure of a section of Mohegan Park Rd., adjacent to the Park Center. For the purpose of creating a safer recreational environment, which in turn will provide more open space for family activities such as picnicking and future expansion of the playground area.
