MOHEGAN PARK IMPROVEMENT & DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE Thursday, November 10th, 2016 – 5:30 P.M. City Hall Regular Meeting MINUTES 1. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Tim Smith at 5:30. Members Present: Tim Smith, Judy Magnano, Bill Barbuto, Beryl Fishbone, Joanne Philbrick, Members Absent: Brandon Hyde, Kerry Bilda, Ryan Thompson (Ex-Officio). 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Upon a motion by Beryl Fishbone, seconded by Judy Magnano, the committee unanimously approved the minutes of the regular meeting held on September 8th, 2016 3. FINANCIAL REPORT A financial report was not available 4. OLD BUSINESS a. Chelsea Gardens: The committee discussed the letter that was sent to the city manager on September 30th, which has received no response. It was decided that a follow up letter would be sent. b. Trails Map App: The app that the committee had been working with no longer exists. Beryl Fishbone will look into other organizations that support walking/hiking, such as Walk America and Walk Norwich. c. Concession Stand: It was noted that some preparation work has begun for demolition. d. Park signage: The map and historical information on the Upper Lot kiosk has been switched. No update on road signage changes within park. e. Expansion of park boundary: Tim Smith noted that at their October 3rd meeting, the city council officially incorporated 85 acres of additional city-owned parcels into the descriptive boundaries of Mohegan Park f. Dam Assessment Reports: No update: g. Member Terms: It was discussed that interviews would be taking place soon for reappointments. Tim Smith stated that due to relocation out of state, he informed that city that he would not be re-applying for another term. 5. CITIZEN COMMENT a. Chuck Evans, 49 Butternut Drive, commended the committee for the direction that it is taking. 6. OTHER BUSINESS a. Beryl Fishbone stated that she spoke with someone from the State Botanical Association who is the head of the CT College Arboretum. He is familiar with the Park and would be interested in helping us with some projects. We just need to pick our projects. 7. ADJOURNMENT Upon a motion by Joanne Philbrick, seconded by Judy Magnano, and voted unanimously, the meeting adjourned at 6:15 P.M
