MOHEGAN PARK IMPROVEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Thursday, September 10, 2020 – 6:30 P.M.
Regular Meeting
A virtual meeting to comply with the directive of Executive Order 7B-1 issued by
Governor Ned Lamont on March 14, 2020 together with any Executive Orders
subsequently issued which pertain to such meetings.
MINUTES
1. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Beryl Fishbone at 6:32 P.M.
Committee members present: Beryl Fishbone, Judy Magnano, Rebecca Melucci,
Alderwoman Stacy Gould, Patrick McLaughlin (Ex-Officio). Absent: Kyle Seitz
(absent with notification) and Samantha Venturo.
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Upon a motion by Stacy Gould, seconded by Judy Magnano, the committee
unanimously approved the minutes of the regular meeting held on March 12,
2020.
Upon a motion by Rebecca Melucci, seconded by Stacy Gould, the committee
unanimously approved the minutes of a special meeting held on June 4, 2020.
3. NEW BUSINESS
a. A reminder to all volunteers that term appointments expire 12/31/2020.
b. 2021 Calendar: Since November 11, 2021 is a federal holiday, a motion
was made by Beryl Fishbone that November 10, 2021 be an alternate date.
The motion was seconded by Judy Magnano and voted unanimously by
the committee.
Stacy Gould made a motion to accept the 2021 meeting schedule,
seconded by Rebecca Melucci and voted unanimously by the committee.
c. Patrick McLaughlin reported that The Last Green Valley asked
permission to put a letterbox in the park.
d. A Poetry Walk presented by Otis Library and One Book One Region is
available for viewing along the walking trail in the park. Signs containing
poetry by Native American poet, Joy Harjo will be on display until early
November.
4. OFFICIAL CORRESPONDENCE
a. DPW Report: Patrick McLaughlin reported that a tree crashed into the
Lakeside Pavilion requiring roof repairs. A new roof was installed on the
Monkey House.
5. OLD BUSINESS
a. Disc Golf Update: Kyle Seitz did not attend the meeting but sent an email
update of disc golf progress. The fairways are complete, basket sleeves
have been installed and tee off areas have been prepped. Still need to
install 2 basket sleeves for practice baskets.
6. FINANCIAL REPORT
The financial report was provided by Patrick McLaughlin. A motion to accept was
made by Stacy Gould and seconded by Rebecca Melucci and voted unanimously
by the committee.
7. ADJOURNMENT
Motion was made to adjourn by Rebecca Melucci, seconded by Stacy Gould and
voted unanimously by the committee. The meeting adjourned at 6:54 P.M.

The meeting will seek to comply with the directive of Executive Order 7B-1 issued by Governor Ned
Lamont on March 14, 2020, together with any Executive Orders subsequently issued which pertain to
such meetings.
To participate in the meeting, utilize the City’s turbo-bridge by dialing (860) 215-8140 and when
prompted enter the Conference ID number 4038191, followed by the # sign.

a. Reminder: Please re-apply as all volunteer term appointments end 12/31/2020.

b. 2021 Calendar Approval. All regularly scheduled meetings are held at 6:30 PM in the
Norwich Public Works Conference Room, 50 Clinton Ave, Norwich, CT January 14, 2021, March 11, 2021, May
13, 2021, July 8, 2021, September 9, 2021, November 11, 2021. This is a recognized holiday and City
offices are closed. Suggested alternate dates. Wednesday, November 10; or Thursday, November 4, or
Thursday, November 18, 2021.
C. TLGV Letterboxing. (Letterboxing uses clues from one location to the next to find the letterbox;
sometimes a compass is needed. Geocaching employs the use of a GPS device (global positioning device) to find the cache,Both
methods rely on the Internet - advertising the cache.)
D. Poetry Walk – 8 signs with poems and images by One Book One Region/Otis Library
