MOHEGAN PARK IMPROVEMENT & DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE Thursday, July 8, 2021 – 6:30 P.M. Regular Meeting A virtual meeting to comply with the directive of Executive Order 7B-1 issued by Governor Ned Lamont on March 14, 2020 together with any Executive Orders subsequently issued which pertain to such meetings. MINUTES 1. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Beryl Fishbone at 6:34 P.M. Committee members present: Beryl Fishbone, Judy Magnano, Alderwoman Stacy Gould, and Patrick McLaughlin (Ex-Officio). Absent: Samantha Venturo and Rebecca Melucci. 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Stacy Gould to accept the minutes of the May 13, 2021 meeting, seconded by Judy Magnano and voted unanimously by the committee. 3. NEW BUSINESS a. Beryl Fishbone has been contacted with a request for additional handicapped parking spaces in the beach parking lot. Patrick McLaughlin said he will designate two additional spaces. b. Judy Magnano asked about a crosswalk between disc golf’s basket 1 and basket 2. Patrick McLaughlin plans to install 3 crosswalks from the beach to the disc golf area. He said the road will be chip-sealed later this month. c. Beryl Fishbone suggested a Teddy Bear Trail for very young children. Patrick McLaughlin suggested the grassy pathway outside of the playground, near the beach. d. Beryl Fishbone asked that we think about adult exercise equipment. She noted that veterans need places to exercise outside of the gym. Patrick McLaughlin will contact a veteran’s group. e. Judy Magnano asked that we consider expanding the disc golf course with 9 additional baskets. Patrick McLaughlin said that the city engineer could speak with Greg Wintrob, designer of the present course. 4. OLD BUSINESS a. Brochure update: Judy Magnano has not updated the brochure and will try to get it done next week. Stacy Gould provided Judy Magnano with names of drone pilots to photograph the park.  b. DPW Report: Patrick McLaughlin said there have many rentals for both pavilions. He asked for opinions on increasing the rental price. Stacy Gould suggested a moderate increase to $225 beginning the next rental season. A discussion to bring a recommendation to the council will take place at the September 9th meeting. 5. FINANCIAL REPORT The financial report was provided by Patrick McLaughlin. 6. ADJOURNMENT Motion was made to adjourn by Stacy Gould, seconded by Judy Magnano and voted unanimously by the committee.
