A motion was made by Stacy Gould to accept the minutes of the July 8, 2021
meeting, seconded by Rebecca Melucci and voted unanimously by the committee.
3. NEW BUSINESS
a. American Rescue Plan funding: Patrick McLaughlin lobbied very hard to
get the City Council to allocate $200,000 for Mohegan Park
improvements. The improvements are; $120k to replace the toddler
playscape including some handicapped equipment, $50k for adult fitness
equipment, and $30k for a 9 basket expansion for the disc golf course.
MPIDAC thanks Mayor Nystrom, the City Council and the City Manager.
b. Due to an increase in lumber prices, additional funds were needed for the
disc golf kiosk. A motion was made by Stacy Gould to approve an
additional $200 for a total of $900 for the kiosk. It was seconded by
Rebecca Melucci and voted unanimously by the committee.
c. Beryl Fishbone plans to meet with the Avalonia Land Conservancy for
thoughts on promotion and preservation of Mohegan Park.
4. OLD BUSINESS
a. Stacy Gould suggested a moderate increase in pavilion rental fee from
$200 to $225 beginning the next rental season. A recommendation will
be brought to the first October meeting of the City Council.
b. Review of handicapped parking: Patrick McLaughlin said that DPW is
behind in line painting due to rain and short staffing. The Beach Lot has
100 spaces and 4 will be designated handicapped. The upper lot has 67
spaces including 2 handicapped and an additional handicapped space will
be added. The lower lot has 162 spaces including 5 handicapped and there
is 1 handicapped space near Animal Control. The group pavilion can
accommodate 100 spaces and will be marked next spring. The Rose
Garden has 4 spaces and 1 will be designated handicapped.
c. Brochure update: Judy Magnano will provide a copy of the brochure for
review next week. Since there will be additional equipment added to the
park, Stacy Gould suggested having a small number printed at Stanton
School print shop.

Pavilion roof.
