A. Minutes of the May 16,2017 Regular Personnel & Pension Board Meeting.
Motion to approve the May 16, 2017 Personnel & Pension Board meeting minutes
made by Shiela Hayes,seconded by John John, all in favor.
III. Old Business
A. Review draft update of the Fire Pension Plan Summary book. Updated drafts reflecting
the recent changes to the collective bargaining agreement sent to board members to
review.
Motion to approve the draft update of the Fire Pension Plan Summary book made
by Shiela Hayes,seconded by John John, all in favor.
rV. New Business
Added under suspension of rules: Motion to amend the agenda to add two items
xmder new business made by Paul Schroder,seconded by John John, all in favor.
A. Pension refund:
Mike DriscoU addressed the board concerning a refund due the pension fund from
the Estate of Peggy McGeowan Fanolis, a surviving spouse who remarried and did
not report her remarriage. At the time of her death on July 11, 2015, she owed the
pension fund $37,708.65 for the overpayment of pension benefits. The executor of
her estate. Attorney Piacenza, rejected the claim. Mike Driscoll presented two
options; file a suit against the estate or accept a settlement offer of $28,281.49
representing 75% of the amount due.
Motion to accept the settlement offer of$28,281.49 made by Paul Schroder,seconded
by John John,aU in favor.

1. Thomas Jodoin, Head Custodian-BOE, for a deferred retirement effective June 14,
2016.
2. Susan Benoit, Secretary-BOE, for a normal retirement effective May 10, 2017.
3. Sherry Bryant, Youth & Family Services Employment Case Manager, for a deferred
retirement effective July 1, 2017.
B. Pension calculations:
1. Michael McKinney, retired May 14, 2017. His pension is calculated for $55,261.03
annually. His application for retirement was approved at the May 2017 meeting.
2. Harry Sewart, retired May 1, 2017. His pension is calculated for $30,145.16. His
application for retirement was approved at the April 2017 meeting.
C. Notification of death:
1. Susan Benoit, DOD May 9, 2017 while still employed. Survivor benefit immediately
payable to her spouse, Richard Benoit, in the amount of $25,894.17 annually.
