CITY OF NORWICH DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS May 21, 2018 TO: City Clerk FROM: Director of Public Works FILE #: PWD 082-18 SUBJECT: MINUTES OF PUBLIC WORKS & CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS COMMITTEE The regular meeting of the Public Works and Capital Improvements Committee was held on Monday, May 21, 2018 in the conference room at the Public Works Headquarters, 50 Clinton Avenue. Attendance was as follows: Committee Members Administration Alderwoman Stacy Gould Ryan E. Thompson, Director Public Works Alderman Sam Browning Patrick J. McLaughlin, City Engineer Mayor Peter Nystrom 1. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 8:01 a.m. 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The Meeting minutes of the April 16, 2018 were unanimously approved. (Motion: Browning, Second: Gould). 3. CITIZEN COMMENT: None 4. OLD BUSINESS: A. Plaques and Monuments Ryan briefed the Committee on the fact that small placards are placed in the Rose Garden when people donate rose bushes for a specific bed. The Committee was agreeable with continuing this practice. There was also a brief discussion about a proposed bench with an engraving on it to be placed in Mohegan Park. This will first be going to the Plaques and Monuments Committee. B. Public Works Projects Updates Update by Pat McLaughlin regarding various projects.  Pleasant Street Bridge project has started. The contractor is Arborio Corporation, Bridge to be closed in late June. For approximately 10 weeks.  The Vehicle Wash Building was awarded to Nutmeg, and the project has started. Will be complete by mid-October.
