CITY OF NORWICH DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS May 20, 2019 TO: City Clerk FROM: Director of Public Works FILE #: PWD 076-19 SUBJECT: MINUTES OF PUBLIC WORKS & CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS COMMITTEE The meeting of the Public Works and Capital Improvements Committee was held on Monday, May 20, 2019 in the conference room at the Public Works Headquarters, 50 Clinton Avenue. Attendance was as follows: Committee Members Administration Alderwoman Stacy Gould Patrick McLaughlin, Director Mayor Peter Nystrom Ashley Baril, Recording Secretary Alderman Sam Browning Deanna Rhodes, City Planner 1. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 8:05 a.m. 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The Meeting minutes of the April 15, 2019 meeting were unanimously approved. (Motion: Nystrom, Second: Browning). 3. CITIZEN COMMENT: None 4. OLD BUSINESS: A. Public Works Projects Updates  Sherman Street Bridge – CT DOT has indicated the City should receive authorization to proceed with design this week.  Sunnyside Bridge – Meeting later this week to determine next steps in award/re- bid. By the time this is resolved, it will likely be too late in the construction season to have it done this year.  Paving Program- completed Alice Street last week and finishing Laurel Hill today. Scotland Road on hold until DOT finishes work on the bridge (Jun 22- Aug 16 road closure). Proceeding to the Sunrise St. area next.  Sidewalk Project on Norwich Ave is making progress.  Concentrating grounds keeping efforts with Cemeteries in preparation for Memorial Day events. B. Mohegan Park Vendors Tabled for now, pending discussion with Police Department and Bill Hathaway about insurance requirements.
