COMMITTEE
The meeting of the Public Works and Capital Improvements Committee was held on Monday,
July 15, 2019 in the conference room at the Public Works Headquarters, 50 Clinton Avenue.
Attendance was as follows:

1. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 8:05 a.m.
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The Meeting minutes of the June 17, 2019 meeting were unanimously approved.

3. CITIZEN COMMENT: None
4. OLD BUSINESS:
A. Public Works Projects Updates
Sherman Street Bridge – had utility meeting and planning a meeting with the
DOT to discuss Right of Way issues.
Sunnyside Bridge – will need to re-bid and construction is expected to start in
spring 2020.
Paving Program- resume paving in Laurel Hill the week of July 22nd.
Franklin Square roundabout – starting RFP’s The City secured a $400,000
grant, but we may need to supplement this with Bond funds.
Sidewalk Project on Norwich Ave is complete.
Transfer Station – bid for truck scale awarded to Commercial Scale from MA.
Work expected to begin in August and should be completed within a week.
Uncas Leap Project – Fuss & O’Neill is putting together a bid packet for partial
demolition of the granite building. Draft bid package will need to be submitted
to SHPO and DECD for review.
