A meeting of the Public Works and Capital Improvements Committee was held on Monday, December 16, 2019
in the conference room at the Public Works Headquarters, 50 Clinton Avenue. Attendance was as follows:

1. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m.
2. ELECTION OF CHAIRPERSON
Derell Wilson motioned to elect Joseph DeLucia as chairperson and DeLucia seconded, all in favor.
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The meeting minutes of the November 18, 2019 meeting were unanimously approved.

5. OLD BUSINESS
A. Public Works Projects Updates
Sherman Street Bridge – Preliminary Design completed. Public info meeting held 11-19-19.
Sunnyside Bridge – out for re-bid and construction expected to start next year.
Annual Paving – on hold for the winter.
Franklin Square Roundabout – A consultant (VHB), has been selected and design has started.
Capital Sidewalk Project – approximately 80% complete and will finish in Spring.
Fire Escape at 23 Union Ave – stairs complete, need to finish roofing work.
Mohegan Park Bathrooms – renovations to start January 2020.
Yantic Street Parking Lot – construction stopped for the winter. Paving will be completed in Spring.
B. Property Disposition
36 Huntington Ave –this property could be part of the Bean Hill Historic District. On hold for
demolition until more research is done.
702 New London Tpke – need to review this property because it could be a historic property.
Tilcon, as an abutter, is interested in this property.
21 Fairmount St –further discussion needed. Fire Department is interested in the back portion of
the property, but reduction in rear yard could create a non-conforming lot.
