The regular meeting of the Public Works and Capital Improvements Committee was held on
Monday, October 19, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. via Zoom virtual meeting. Attendance was as follows:

1. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m.
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the September 21, 2020 meeting were unanimously approved. (Motion:
Wilson, Second: DeLucia)
3. CITIZEN COMMENT – None
4. OLD BUSINESS
A. Public Works Projects Updates
Sherman Street Bridge –semi-final design plans are complete and the local wetland permit is
expected to be accepted by November 5th
Sunnyside Bridge – completed Guiderail installation and project complete.
Annual Paving – contractor put paving on hold temporarily, since the spike in Covid in
the Norwich Area. Contractor expected to be back to paving next week to finish up the
paving season.
Franklin Square Roundabout –Final Design Plans submitted to DOT last week .
New London Tpke. –met with the DOT but funding is not in place yet. Hopefully
funding will be in place and we can start design on safety improvements this winter.
46 Sunnyside Ave– Contract for demolition was signed. NPU needs to disconnect
utilities (water line, power) before demolition can start.
270 West Thames –bid documents for demolition being worked on.
B. Property Disposition
Deanna Rhodes, Director of Planning and Neighborhood Services, gave an update
regarding Property Disposition.
