CITY OF NORWICH DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS January 21, 2021 TO: City Clerk FROM: Director of Public Works FILE #: PWD 006-21 SUBJECT: PUBLIC WORKS & CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS COMMITTEE The regular meeting of the Public Works and Capital Improvements Committee was held on Monday, January 19, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. via Zoom virtual meeting. Attendance was as follows: Committee Members Administration Alderwoman Stacy Gould Patrick McLaughlin, Director Alderman Joseph DeLucia Brian Long, City Engineer Alderman Derrell Wilson Nicole Doyle, Recording Secretary 1. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the December 21, 2020 meeting were unanimously approved. (Motion: Wilson, Second: Gould) 3. CITIZEN COMMENT – None 4. OLD BUSINESS A. Public Works Projects Updates  Sherman Street Bridge – Design is on schedule for Plans to be completed this summer. Frontier attended the most recent utility meeting and the overhead utility relocation seems to be the critical path at this point.  Franklin Square Roundabout – Project is out to bid with a bid opening in February.  46 Sunnyside Ave– Demolition complete.  21 Fairmont – Demolition complete.  Granite Mill building – Demolition is in process and going well.  New London Tpke (north end) City awaiting formal DOT authorization.  Dunham St – DOT is reviewing, plan to bid for this construction season.  Laurel Hill Fire Department retaining wall repair – received proposal from NE Jeppesen. Evaluating proposal and expected to begin work in February. B. Property Disposition  McLaughlin talked about 2 properties which the City recently foreclosed on: 98 Washington St and 33 East Cliff St. Deanna Rhodes will be reviewing and forwarding to other City Departments for recommendations.
