CITY OF NORWICH DEPARTMENT OF PUBLICWORKS December 20, 2022 TO: City Clerk FROM: Director of Public Works FILE#: PWD 205-22 SUBJECT: MINUTES OF PUBLIC WORKS & CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS COMMITTEE The regular meeting of the Public Works and Capital Improvements Committee was held on Monday December 19, 2022 at 4:00 p.m at 50 Clinton Ave. Attendance was as follows: Committee Members Administration President Pro-Tempore Joseph DeLucia Patrick McLaughlin, Director Alderwomen Stacy Gould Brian Long, City Engineer Alderman Swarnjit Singh 1. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the October 17, 2022 meeting were unanimously approved. (Motion: Gould Second: Singh) 3. CITIZEN COMMENT – None 4. OLD BUSINESS A. Public Works Projects Updates • Sherman Street Bridge –The small bridge is in place and the gas line re-connection should be completed this week. Limited utility work is planned for the winter months. • Uncas Leap Heritage Park - The plans are advancing with construction scheduled to start in the Spring 2023. • Mohegan Park Disc Golf – All baskets and tee pads have been installed for the second nine holes. The only remaining work is purchase and installation of the signage. • Street Paving – The last phase of the paving, (roads off of Dunham St., including Wetledge Dr., Elizabeth St. Ext., Stanley Pl., and Oakwood Knoll), have been completed. • New London Tpke – Survey for the north end is complete, design is at 50% complete for the southern LOTCIP project. Comments from SCCOG have been addressed, and the plans have been sent to DOT for review. • Dunham Street –Project is complete and in the close out phase. • The Culvert Repair on Otrabando was completed in November. • The concrete for the Armstrong Tennis Court project was poured and the installation of the fencing was started. The project is on hold for the winter. The improvements to the parking lot will be bid in the winter, with a spring/summer construction expected.
