Recreation Advisory Board meeting May 16, 2018 Present: Jeff Blinderman, Cheryl Hancin, Lee-Ann Gomes, Loren Waggoner, Julie Cagle Excused: Stephanie Burnham, William Nash March minutes approved Old Business a. Recreation Facilities Update…Lo gave a brief report that NFA field requests are dwindling down, they are getting ready to prepare the tennis courts as the Laura B Cedar camp is coming up in July. They are working on playscapes both on Lake Street and by the courts. Next, the maintainers will prepare the fields for fall sports and football. b. Program Review…Cheryl and Jeff reported on the basketball tournament which was a success. They are contemplating a 3 on 3 tournament next year in February to avoid conflict in sport schedules. Cheryl reported that we hosted 35 youth for April Vacation Camp. She will be meeting with the softball league next week and new programs include free fishing education by the DEP. New Business a. Program Review-Upcoming Programs…Cheryl discussed Splash and Dash which will take place on June 5. On July 2 we start summer camp which will include field trips and swimming this year. We received a $10,000 grant from the Community Foundation for scholarships. b. Field and Facility Policy….we discussed the revised policy and altered board members to the fact that some people/leagues are complaining about having to get some verifications in before being permitted. Briefly discussed Spaulding Pond and staffing of lifeguards there. To date we have four hired. Other Business…none Adjournment…meeting adjourned at 5:50pm
