MINUTES OF THE REHAB REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING MAY 20, 2010 8:45 AM Members Present: Chairman Rodney Bowie, Jim Roberts, Alderman Tucker Braddock, Kevin Lin, and Susan Goldman Others Present: Denise Blake, Wayne Sharkey, and Linda Lee Smith Chairman Rodney Bowie called the meeting to order at 8:47 AM. Motion was made by Rodney Bowie and seconded by Jim Roberts to suspend the rules to listen to an appeal request from homeowner of 158 Broad Street. Motion carried unanimously. New Business An appeal letter from Mr. Strong, 158 Broad Street had been handed out to the committee. Mr. Strong had been approved for both lead and property rehab funding. The lead funding had been overextended in the amount $4,755 above what is available to him. A motion was made by Alderman Tucker Braddock and seconded by Rodney Bowie to increase the contract amount by $4,755 for additional lead funding. All were in favor. A motion was made by Alderman Tucker Braddock and seconded by Rodney Bowie to approve the minutes of April 14, 2010. Motion carried unanimously. Old Business Discuss Regulations for Homeowners Acting as Their Own Contractors A motion was made by Alderman Tucker Braddock and seconded by Rodney Bowie to postpone this discussion until the next meeting. All were in favor. New Applications Mr. Sharkey told the committee that there were quite a few new property applications to be approved for the Lead and Rehab Programs. They all meet the eligibility requirements, including eligibility funding for lead and rehab and paid taxes. Motion was made by Rodney Bowie and seconded by Jim Roberts to approve the list of new applications. A motion was made by Rodney Bowie and seconded by Jim Roberts to remove RLP0931 from the active list and add to the wait list; and RLP0926 to remove from the wait list and add to the active list. Motion carried unanimously. These two were approved at last month’s meeting and both were approved for lead; one was approved because we still had rehab funds and the other was wait listed for rehab but they should have been reversed. There was a request from the CDAC regarding developing language on boarding/rooming houses and to come up with terminology on them and their eligibility in terms of rehab and lead. A motion was made by Alderman Tucker Braddock and seconded by Rodney Bowie to adjourn. The motion carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 9:37 a.m. 2
