MINUTES OF THE REHABILITATION REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING
June 12, 2013
9:15 AM
Members Present: Rodney Bowie, H. Tucker Braddock, Gary Evans, Kevin Lin, Jim Troeger
Absent: Joe East, Jim Roberts
Others Present: Denise Blake, Wayne Sharkey
Chairman Rodney Bowie called the Rehab Review Committee meeting to order at
9:21 AM. A quorum was determined.
Motion was made by Rodney Bowie and seconded by Tucker Braddock to accept the
minutes of the April 10, 2013 meeting. Motion carried unanimously.
Old Business
Wayne Sharkey reiterated from the previous meeting that there are certain situations
that will arise when additional funding will be needed to rectify a warranty or workmanship
issue. He also stated that since the Property Rehabilitation funding has been cut in half, less
work is able to be done when putting together a scope of work. He said this occurs only
when an unforeseen issue occurs, or in the case of one particular project, a contractor did
work incorrectly, was fired from the job, and a new contractor had to complete the work in
order to finish the project.
Gary Evans suggested that he and Wayne meet to look at numbers from previous
projects and come up with a recommendation of a potential policy to present to the
Rehabilitation Review Committee at the next meeting. Tucker Braddock liked this idea and
agreed to hear the proposal at the next meeting.
New Business
None.
Application Approvals/Denials/De-obligation of Funds
Denise Blake provided all members present with one new lead application
recommended for approval. She stated that the applicant met eligibility requirements and all
taxes are current. The application is as follows:
Project Application Type # of units Lead Award
LP1223 Investor-Owner 1 $20,000
A motion to approve the application was made by Tucker Braddock and seconded by Rodney
Bowie. Motion carried unanimously.
Open Discussion
Wayne Sharkey stated that he’d like to prepare a portfolio of before & after photos of
completed projects to allow the committee to see the results of the work being done through
the programs. Tucker Braddock said he thought that would be a good presentation idea for
the City Council sometime in the future.
Appeals/Requests
None.
Adjournment
Jim Troeger made a motion to adjourn, Tucker Braddock seconded, and the motion
carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 9:46 AM.
