MINUTES OF THE REHABILITATION REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING November 13 , 2013 9:15 AM Members Present: Rodney Bowie, H. Tucker Braddock, Gary Evans, & Joe East Absent: Jim Troeger, Jim Roberts & Kevin Lin Others Present: Wayne Sharkey and Jacquie Barbarossa, Recording Secretary Chairman Rodney Bowie called the Rehab Review Committee meeting to order at 9:47 AM. A quorum was determined. Rodney Bowie asked for approval of October 16, 2013 Special Meeting Minutes. Motion was made by Tucker Braddock and seconded by Joe East to accept the minutes – unanimous . Old Business -NONE New Business - Application Approvals/Denials/De-obligation of Funds Wayne Sharkey provided members present with 4 Property Rehabilitation/Lead Based Paint Hazard Control Program applications recommended for approval and stated that the applicants met eligibility requirements. He stated that LP 1226 was on the list for an additional $3,000 due to an error in the October approval. The property was awarded $13,000 and it should have been $16,000. He also stated that LP 1229 was approved in October for $20,000 in rehab and upon inspection of the property lead paint was found. The owner applied for the lead program for additional funding. The staff is trying to address the situation up front so that the owners do not have to come back to the committee for additional funding if lead is found at the property. He stated that the properties must be tested for lead if there are children under 6 years old at the property even if they are only applying for rehab. Mr. Sharkey stated that the programs are for lead safety and code compliance first. He stated there are many times he cannot address all the issues and must decide what gives the property owner the best options i.e.: patching a roof versus replacement so other work can be completed. Wayne Sharkey stated that taxes were current on all the properties. Rodney Bowie made a motion to approve the applications, second by Tucker Braddock – all applications APPROVED . Appeals/ Requests - None Final Payments - None Open Discussion - None Adjournment Rodney Bowie made a motion to adjourn, second by Tucker Braddock - unanimous . Meeting adjourned at 10:07 AM.
