fax: (860) 885-1160 SENIOR AFFAIRS COMMISSION Meeting of November 18, 2019 Members in Attendance: Regular members: P. Michael Lahan, Frank Jacaruso, Jr., Laurieann Messore and Rebecca Melucci Attending staff members were LeeAnn Gomes Mike Wolak. Member Jacaruso determined there was a quorum and called the meeting to order. Absent: Jacquelyn Randall and Janice Stewart Minutes: The minutes from 10/21/19 were approved. Communications: Mike shared a thank you note from the Friends of Otis group for providing books for their sale and promoting the event. Human Services Report: Budget has been handed in to City Manager. Senior Center looking to replace Natural gas minibus. We received quotes for 24 passenger and an 18 passenger. We have also submitted for a Generalist position. Senior Center Report: Mike stated that the new Driver, Lorie Trainor is working out great. Holiday luncheon tickets are currently on sale. Mini Craft fair being held on December 11th. We also have a couple holiday programs on December 5th and December 12th both at 1:30pm. Our new fitness room equipment is installed and is working our great. Chairperson’s Report/Legislative Report: None Old Business: Small discussion about questioner. Suggested for Mike to write something for the newsletter in regards to what membership dues pay for and compared to other centers who charge for specific programs. Mike will do this at the time of the next membership drive beginning is May/June. Mike stated that he hears very little complaints, if any at all, regarding membership suggested fees. New Business: SCHEDULE OF MEETINGS: March 16, 2020 **DATE CHANGED TO MARCH 23, 2020** April 20, 2020 May 18, 2020 Next Meeting: Monday, March 23, 2020 at 9:00 a.m., at the Rose City Senior Center.
