Rose City Senior Center Senior Affairs Commission Meeting of May 15, 2023 Present Members: Frank Jacaruso, Joanne Philbrick, Rebecca Melucci, Lauriann Messore Present staff: Kate Milde and Mike Wolak Absent Frank Jacaruso called meeting to order, as there was a quorum. Approval of the minutes –Minutes from April 17, 2023 meeting were approved Communications… • We received $300 donation from the Women’s City Club of Norwich for the use of our space for their meetings. • We received a nice thank you note from one of our members that has received adult briefs from us on a monthly basis. Human Services Director report…. • Pickle ball courts o Looking at permitting/rental agreements o Also looking at Sr. Center space rental agreements to see if fees are still appropriate-generate revenue • Office coordinator position remains in budget so far. It has been empty for 6+ years • Looking at outdoor space for the Sr. Center from the ARPA direct funding to Sr.Centers funds. I hope that this project happens next summer. o @$100k to be available Director of the Senior Center report: • Pickle ball courts currently under construction and going well to date. • So far so good with OC position in the budget • 102 new members since Jan 1 • 560 people assisted with Tax filing Chairperson report…. NONE Old Business… None New Business… Joann would like more communication about programs and services such as a community calendar or some other way to make sure the information is reaching seniors.
