NORWICH YOUTH & FAMILY SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD MEETING March 11th, 2014 ROOM 335, NORWICH CITY HALL (860) 823-3782 - FAX (860) 892-6031 Email: nyfs@cityofnorwich.org MINUTES The Norwich Youth and Family Services Advisory Board meeting was held on March 11th, 2014 in Room 335 in Norwich City Hall. Those in attendance were as follows: Jodi Vara-President Angela Rae Duhaime-Community Member Officer Michael McKinney-NPD Calla Tetreault-Youth member Kay Eyberse-Coordinator, NYFS Guest: Deb Kievits Absent: Duncan Profit Vouise Fonville Mark Irons Erin Wood NPC: Jennifer Rummel The meeting was called to order at 8:30. The minutes were read and approved from the last 2 meetings. YBS Programs~ Kay briefly reviewed all NYFS programs, including: • Cool Directions- Is full and not accepting any referrals at this time. • NYAC- Has been very busy with three recent events scheduled, including another successful Family Fun Night at the RCSC! • Summer Jam and Learn- Grants for summer programming are due soon and Kay is looking forward to a successful summer. • JRB/FWSN are on track for positive outcomes this year. New Business • The budget for Youth Services appears stable at this time. There is nothing to report on either the State or local level. Norwich Prevention Council Subcommittee- • The Norwich Suicide Prevention Alliance is busy scheduling and executing Q,P,R trainings and will be supporting the 3 high schools in their Suicide Prevention Week ….the week of April 21st. The 2nd Annual “Take the First Step” Suicide Prevention Walk will be held on Saturday April 26th at Fontain Field. We have ordered 100 tee shirts for distribution and expect a good crowd this year. • Marijuana Education will take place at the end of the school year at both Sachem Campus and Main Campus at NFA.
