ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT & TOURISM
Date: November 12, 2024
To: Mayor and Common Council
From: Kristi Weber, Planner / Community Development Specialist
Bob Duffy, Economic Development & Tourism Director
Re: Direction on Location of Oconomowoc 150th Monument sign
RELATES TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN
Strategic Goal- III. Focus on Community Growth
D. Create Tourism Destination Initiatives
2. Explore Creative ideas for Tourism Funds
BACKGROUND
Included in the 2024 budget are funds for a monument sign to be placed in downtown as an opportunity to use as
a destination attraction and photo opportunity to promote and enhance our lakefront community. The intent
was to order by year end, in order to install in 2025, as the community celebrates our sesquicentennial. City staff
is looking for City Council direction on a preferred location in order to begin sign production and coordinate/
prepare the necessary installation.
City staff has identified three sites and have prepared perspectives related to the key vistas.
SUGGESTED MOTION
Looking for City Council direction on a specific location to proceed.
