Protection & Welfare Committee Meeting Minutes October 16, 2018 Acting Chairman Miller called the meeting to order at 7:23 PM. Members Present: Aldermen Miller and Shaw Excused: Alderman Rosek Staff Present: Mayor Nold, Kitsembel, Sullivan, Gallo, Kelliher, Buerger, Duffy, Frye, Pickart and Coenen Others Present: Alds. Strey, Spiegelberg, Kowieski, Zwart and Ellis, and Atty Riffle Coenen reported on both license applications stating a Class “B” Fermented Malt Beverage and “Class C” Wine licenses are requested from KGMNP Hotels, LLC for the Staybridge Suites located at 1141 Blue Ribbon Drive and a “Class B” Intoxicating Liquor/Fermented Malt Beverage License from KM Hotel, LLC for the Hilton Garden Inn located at 1443 Pabst Farms Circle. Both hotels will be owned and operated by Kevin Patel. The current owners, Pabst Farms Hospitality, Units II & I, LLC respectively, are in the process of selling the hotels and the anticipated closing date is October 31st. Pabst Farms Hospitality has submitted a letter of surrender included in the packet for their licenses contingent upon a successful closing. The new owners plan to operate the hotels in the same manner with the same license types and meet all Chapter 12 and State licensing requirements. Coenen recommended to ensure no interruption of alcohol sales/service in the operations of the hotels, the Clerk’s office will not issue the new licenses until the actual date of closing. 2. Consider/recommend Resolution Granting a New 2018-2019 Reserve Class “B” Fermented Malt Beverage License & “Class C” Wine Licenses to KGNMP Hotels, LLC (Staybridge Suites): Motion by Shaw to recommend granting a new 2018-2019 Class “B” Fermented Malt Beverage & “Class C” Wine licenses to KGNMP Hotels, LLC on the condition the Clerk not issue the licenses until the actual date of closing for the Staybridge Suites; second by Miller. Motion carried 2-0. 3. Consider/recommend Resolution Granting a New 2018-2019 “Class B” Intoxicating Liquor/ Fermented Malt Beverage License to KM Hotel, LLC (Hilton Garden Inn): Motion by Shaw to recommend granting a new 2018-2019 “Class B” Intoxicating Liquor/Fermented Malt Beverage license to KM Hotel, LLC on the condition the Clerk not issue the license until the actual date of closing for the Hilton Garden Inn; second by Miller.
