Protection & Welfare Committee Meeting Minutes February 5, 2019 Chairman Rosek called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM. Members Present: Aldermen Rosek, Miller and Shaw Staff Present: Mayor Nold, Kitsembel, Gallo, Sullivan, Kelliher, Duffy, Pickart, Buerger, Frye and Coenen Others Present: Alds. Zwart, Spiegelberg, Strey, Kowieski and Ellis, and Atty Riffle 2. Consider/recommend Granting New 2019 “Class B” Intoxicating Liquor/Fermented Malt Beverage License to Bertrands, LLC dba Bertrand’s Lago Su Bella at 126 W. Wisconsin: Coenen reported the City received an application for a “Class B” Intoxicating Liquor/Fermented Malt Beverage license from Bertrands, LLC to sell intoxicating liquor and fermented malt beverages at 126 W. Wisconsin Avenue for a new restaurant named Lago Su Bella. The restaurant is located on the first floor of the new Eagles Landing Condominium building (formerly Spinnakers.) Coenen stated she verified with the owner the opening date earlier today and they are now looking to have a soft opening at the end of February and open to the public in early March. Therefore, it is suggested that if the license is granted, a condition be made that the Clerk not issue the license until the owner confirms the opening date but no later than April 1st. If the opening does not occur by April 1st the license will not be issued, and the applicant would have to come back to Council for reapproval. Motion by Rosek to recommend granting a new 2019 “Class B” Intoxicating Liquor/Fermented Malt Beverage License to Bertrands, LLC conditioned on the Clerk not issuing the license until the owner confirms the opening date, but no later than April 1st; second by Miller. Motion carried 3-0. Motion by Shaw to adjourn; second by Rosek. Motion carried 3-0. The meeting adjourned at 7:32 PM. Minutes by Diane Coenen, City Clerk Ald.
