The Final Audit will be distributed once CLA receives the audit from Andres Medical Billing. Due to COVID the Audit of AMB has been delayed. o The District is currently trending within budget for 2021. o The final Capital projects for 2021 are in the process of being bid and will be presented to the board for discussion and action at the June and July meeting. o The Draft 5-Year Capital Improvement Plan and 2022 CIP were distributed to the Owners during the May meeting and will be discussed in June. The materials will be discussed and acted on by the Fire Board this month.  A brief discussion occurred with the owners regarding going through the bidding and approval process for the platform ladder immediately upon approval of the 2022 CIP. Pending the cost of the unit, prepayment benefits, and other costs the project may be presented to the board in August or September. With the volatility of prices currently this could be the most fiscally responsible and appropriate process for the District. o A direction from the board will occur in May regarding the Draft 2022 Operation Budget – focusing on sustainable staffing including wages, minimum daily staffing, and balance of FT, PT, POC, Intern Positions to meet needs of communities.  Evaluations o Insurance Services Office (ISO) Rating Re-evaluation o Community Risk Assessment o Standards of Cover  Other o Fire Code Ordinance o Update to various District Policies o Completion of Station updates per budget Municipal Support  In the process of meeting with Chief Elected Official and Fire Board Representatives in April and May to discuss needs, goals, and expectations of each municipality from the District. There’s been material delays which has held up the completion of the project. The windows have arrived and installation should begin this week. The last hold up is the interior doors which are scheduled to be delivered on May 27th. Completion of the project is projected to be June 10th.  Garage doors and openers for Station 3 and Station 5 have been ordered. Geis Doors was awarded the bids for both stations. Material shortages in this area exist. Doors are scheduled for delivery by the end of August with an installation date in the first part of September.  Station 2 capital projects have been put on a temporary hold as Chief Bowen and myself are working through a couple of possibilities to maximize the dollars being spent on the project. We should have more information for the July board meeting.  Engine 63 is in service. My sincere thanks to the committee for their diligent work to make this engine a reality. The “old” Engine 63 has been stripped of its equipment and is ready to be put on the Wisconsin Surplus Auction.  The Truck 73 committee has completed the specifications for the new truck and they are being formalized. The RFP will be back to the committee by June 5 and will then be sent out to the selected vendors. Operations – Assistant Chief Haerter  Standards of Cover outline completed. Work will continue to satisfy the over 40 sections needing data. Chief Ingersoll and Haerter are enrolled in a Center for Public Safety Excellence class in September which will assist them in completing this and the Fire and Emergency Service Self‐Assessment Manual. Each station will have responsibilities where a person is assigned to it to allow for flexibility when leave occurs. Significant information and discussion occurred since last month where these have been revised to prior to issue for a better result. Station 5 & Dive Team – Assistant Chief Lincoln  Station 5 Remodel Project – STATE APPROVAL HAS ARRIVED . . . . . o The bidding process has begun with the project being split into three phases for completion. Pending costs and availability of supplies the project will be approved in phases if necessary. The goal is complete phase 1 and phase 2 at a minimum, however phase 3 could be completed if the bids come in favorably.  Phase #1 – dormitories, kitchen, dining room  Phase #2 – second floor day room, fitness room, storage  Phase #3 – office spaces  The Special Services Heavy Rescue Squad for the Dive Team has been delayed due to issues with the unit not being DOT compliant. The schedule has been mostly full lately, however the summer months are always challenging and we’re trying to pre-load with new employees to prevent the bubble pop that usually happens mid-June.  Internship o A National Recruiting drive via Social Media was kicked off this week via Facebook post. o The post has been viewed over 9000 times, but has only resulted in four interest inquiries. o With COVID restrictions winding down we’ll begin visiting local schools in person to spread the message and work on recruiting candidates. Graphics with aircraft registration numbers and other legal identifying information will have been better applied. o The remote drop system which has been received, installed and tested. o Microsoft learned we use Teams to live stream UAS data and will be using WLFD as part of a national advertising campaign as they come out of “teams just for COVID meetings” mode. A production company will be coming to film training and UAS use at several June trainings. o Demonstration flights for a media release are being planned as well as a demo for the board. Fire Prevention Bureau – Deputy Chief May Please see below for a summary of the Fire Prevention operations in May. Please reach out if you have any questions.  As of Friday May 21st the following is what is still due for the first round of fire inspections. o Station #1 4 o Station #2 17 o Station #3 176 o Station #5 8 o Station #6 4  PT inspectors are working 2-3 shifts a week to assist with Station #3 inspections. The goal is to 2 inspectors in Station #3 area every day with PT or FT staff.  Many new developments are now getting to the point of needing inspections. More rolls of plans come in everyday and development continues to surge.  We are waiting to see what the schools mask/lockdown status will be before we plan too much public education for the fall. We have started to allow scout troops in the station with masks and social distancing. Fleet & Facilities Bureau – Deputy Chief Igl The following is a report on what has been going on at each station and with the fleet.  Stations o Station 3 is almost complete  Fleet o Oil changing/ Maintenance on Ambulances and utilities is ongoing o Brush 85 has got the skid unit and graphics installed. Next it will be going in for the emergency warning installation. o The new Engine 63 is officially in service, fleet mounted all the equipment in house o Old Engine 63 has been stripped and is ready to be sold. o Tender 92 is in getting the pump replaced at Rennerts. o The old dive boat has sold on Wisconsin surplus. o The new Dive truck is expected soon. There will be an orientation process to allow the new paramedics to learn the requirements of the District and to set them up for future success as newly licensed paramedics. o Explorer Post  The Training Division has started the process of resuming explorer post operations as COVID restrictions will allow. In the coming months of June and July there will be a recruitment process and continuation of explorer operations.
