Minutes Beach Nourishment Committee Meeting August 20, 2024 Meeting called to order by Sandy Boyer 6:40 P.M. at OD town hall Attendees: Sandy Boyer, Bruce Boyer, John Lawicki, Peter Mavrelis, Paul Panther, Al Halline (remote), David Snyder, Michele Bonneau, Scott Kingan, Chuck Sheaff Minutes of the July 2 meeting were approved Reports: Sandy and Scott Litigation: Save the Dunes lawsuit Following the deposition by the expert witness on behalf of Save the Dunes on August 30, a timetable for the beach protection project can be made. Much discussion followed regarding determining the number of beach front homeowners who would be interested in additional rock placement. A plan was proposed to inform and educate each homeowner on the cost and appearance of the proposed project. Although a firm cost is not possible until the bidding for the project is completed, an approximate idea for the cost will be given to each homeowner. The committee then can determine how many homeowners will participate which will help determine of the total scope and ultimately the cost of the project. OD vs USACE and NPS Favorable progress has been made on several points regarding mitigation and public access resulting with the work done on the east end project. Reconciliation: One homeowner dispute has been settled Beach steps access: Access for 7 and 9 have been completed. So far we are pleased with the results Funding for access 16 is almost complete and discussion regarding sand and vegetation followed. Removal of plastic fencing on the south side of the seawall should be removed by homeowners. Donations: Letters will go out to home owners on the north side of shore as well as to homeowners involved with the litigation asking for donation to satisfy legal expenses Master Plan: Scott spoke to the inclusion of a beach plan to accompany the Town Master Plan to be prepared for 2025, the 100th anniversary of Ogden Dunes. Fund Raising: Sandy spoke again of scheduling a fund raising Trivia night to raise money. The Meeting was adjourned at 8:23 Respectfully submitted Peter Mavrelis

Reports Litigation & Mitigation: ▪ Save the Dunes ▪ Brack ▪ OD v USACE & NPS Reconciliation EZ Beach Steps ▪ Fundraising – Access 9 ▪ Access 7 and 9 installations • Access 9 went in as planned • Access 7 had the beautiful woodwork at the top that we retained. The actual steps were removed. They are on the beach. CJ, will you get those off the beach, please. The wood steps were replaced with the new steps. It is as close to perfect as we can get. ▪ Access 16 needs to have the vegetation removed or at least cut down on Town property near the wall. Can we do that? Can we put down some sort of pavers so it doesn’t grow back? ▪ The sand fences along the south side of the wall need to be removed. They are metal stakes and plastic woven material. They will not disintegrate. The plastic is being buried and the stakes are in the way of the accessway. I will contact the homeowners down there. Was the fencing approved by the town. ▪ The vegetation has overgrown the access walkway. We need to ask ODHA to get that trimmed back. ▪ The new steps for 16 will arrive in 3-4 weeks. I would like to collect an additional $4000 to pay for them. Any ideas?
