Ogden Dunes Water Board Meeting Minutes Summary Date of meeting: February 21, 2023 Location: Town Hall and Zoom. In attendance: Jim Slawinski, Tom Cleland, Matt Moore, Julia Klingensmith and Dave Snyder (Dave Via Zoom). Absent: Devon DeMarco The following is a summary of notations made during the meeting: 1. Appoint minute taker: Tom Cleland appointed himself to take notes for minutes at this meeting. 2. Approve minutes from January 2023 meeting: Motion was made by Jim Slawinski to approve; motion seconded by Tom Cleland. 3. Water Department financial update: Month and year to date financial reports were presented by Julia Klingensmith; reviewed by Tom Cleland, Dave Snyder, Jim Slawinski, and Matt Moore. 4. Guest speaker Tim Morris of Mechanical Concepts. Tim Morris presented a brief presentation of how the new VFD pump controls would operate in the pump house. Tim also explained how current programming operations were going and ‘bugs’ were being worked out over the next month or so. Currently, all systems seem to be operating quite well. 5. Julia Klingensmith presented a proposal for new office furniture in her office. TC has requested the proposal show a line item showing the labor charge to install this new furniture. This will be reviewed at the next board meeting. 6. The IAWC DSI price increase that was being passed on by IAWC was going to be tabled for a while as the ‘board’ has decided not to pass this small increase onto the customer base at this time. 7. Water/Sanitation contract discussion was tabled for the next meeting when Devon could be present. 8. As for the USIC discussion, Jim Slawinski has reached out to the Indiana 811 representative to discuss this ongoing issue and per her recommendation made another minor change to the Ogden Dunes Map. ODWW is awaiting a response from this representative from USIC. 9. As of the 4th quarter shutoffs, there is a total of 4 being turned off at this time. The shutoffs will be done by the Street/Water Department personnel during the week of 2/21/23. 10. Per Matt Moore, the new generator control has been installed and operational at this time. 11. As for the main breaker replacement project, quotes from A/E, Continental, and Circle R Electric will be received hopefully by the next board meeting for review. 12. The NIPSCO overhead power line proposal has been received and this work should begin sometime late Spring ‘23. 13. As for the total cost of the water meter project, JS presented a spreadsheet showing a total expense of approximately $203,000.00 for the entire project. 14. All but 1 of the 632 wireless meter updates have been completed. The only remaining meter to replace is 156 Shore Drive which is scheduled for completion by end of February 2023. 15. The Zenner residential software development for the APP should be completed by this Spring ‘23 and available to homeowners by 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2023 if they so choose to download this app. 16. Upgrading the inside and outside of the Booster station is currently underway. Discussion on exterior facade was addressed with no formal decision made yet. 17. JS has discussed the main water valve repair/clean out of valve box work. TC has suggested that our Street department first attempt to clean out what we can prior to bringing in outside contractors to complete the remaining units. 18. Back flow requirements – tabled for the next meeting(s). 19. Annual hydrant flushing will commence in late Spring/ early Summer ‘23. 20. No resident remarks at this time. 21. Closing remarks from board, etc.- Dave Snyder requested that ODWW look at installing a water line with yard hydrant to the Christmas Tree location to eliminate the use of a water hose.
