Call to Order:
Chair, Eugene Eartckson, called the meetmg to order at 12 30p m Roll was taken by Advtsory
Secretary, Marqae Martinson
Acceptance of Minutes
• Mmutes from the February 8, 2017 were accepted as wntten with Dot Pnce motlonmg to
accept the minutes. Member Lolly Nyce seconded and all voted m favor.
Updates and Events:
• Volunteer Appreciation Day: Event will be held on Thursday, Apnl13 GHS told
committee that staff 1s trymg to set dates up a few months ahead of time Each month we
have 1500-1800 volunteer hours. We have volunteers as class mstructors, m the kitchen,
the front counter, the Opp Shop, on committees Each year we struggle to dec1de who to
honor. In the past only one volunteer of the year was honored Last year we honored two
volunteers of the year and many honorable mentiOn volunteers Staff asked for
recommendations to ensure that some of our volunteers don't get missed The Golden
Hours Senior Center could not run Without our volunteers
• Potential Classes and Events:
o Thru em for those w1th Arthritis. GHS explruned that That Chits an art of motiOn
and it helps w1th movement of joints Dtabetes and Chrome Pain is another class
that is being looked mto Paula Pnce is researchmg these two programs to help
With the trammg
o Mmdfulness and Med1tat10n, another program bemg researched, would help
people learn how to calm themselves, as well as focusmg on oneself at that exact
moment It is staffs hope to help w1th our seruors to focus on themselves as well
as rud with depressiOn. Charr mqurred about retaining memory GHS stated that
Mmdfulness and Med1tat10n is great and w1ll help w1th that as well

o A High Tea event ISm the begmnmg stages ofplanmng This event will mvolve
fancy hats and a possible hat contest. GHS stated that scones would be part of the
menu for this event Joyce stated that she would get a recipe for authentic sconces
with cottage cream and marmalade She also suggested that finger sandwiches
would also be appropnate for this event
• Mother's Day Manicures: Staff member, Jeannie Young, suggested a Mother's Day
Mamcure event This IS scheduled for the Fnday before Mother's Day, May 12 The
purpose of this event IS to help the mothers feel pretty and give them a well-deserved
pampermg sess1on
• Annual Talent Show: Last year was our first talent show, w1th nearly 20 part1c1pants
Due to the great tum out, staff decided to make th1s an annual event This year, the day
before the show, a rehearsal will be schedule for any performers who would hke to
attend Member Stegen stated that the lme dancers are all very excited and have already
chosen theu dance The talent show helped them feel mcluded and more of a part ofthe
Thts event will be held on Fnday, June 2, 2017
• Father's Day and Stampede: Scheduled for Fnday, June 16, 2017 It 1s always a fun
event havmg the barbeque w1th both hot dogs and hamburgers as well as the
entertamment of Stampede
• Annual Senior Prom: July 13 1h will be Casmo Ntght Mega bmgo and Mus1c and
dancmg will be a part ofthis year's Semor Prom Chns suggested to decorate with Jumbo
playmg cards Staff could wear white shirts with black garter and visors Last year
Naudme and Glen Jensen brought antique cars for a photo shoot GHS thanked Member
Robertson for always being so w!lhng to take photos and even prmtmg the pictures out at
the event. Carol Robertson stated that she will be out of town on July 13 and unable to
pictures at the prom GHS also mentiOned that either June 21 or 22 to do an outside
ukulele event with BBQ More mformat10n to come
Weber Human Services Report: Paula Pnce presented that she IS currently puttmg together the
state area plan and IS just waitmg on the budget The next budget year starts July 1, 2017 There
have not been a lot of changes m budget which means there won't be many changes m services
It IS not lookmg very positive on gettmg fundmg, not even one time fundmg w1th legtslatiOn Not
a lot offundmg 1s available nght now The annual Age Wise conference will be held on May 17,
2017, begmnmg at 9am, at the Eccles Conference center The cost IS $15 and mcludes lunch
Paula 1s currently securmg presenters and the breakout top1cs Some topics are mmdfulness,
nutnt10n and meals, and wills and trusts Parkmg will be available at the Baptist church on 271h
street and Will shuttle people to the conference Vendors will have booths set up and there Will be
pnze drawmgs at the end.
A caregiver education senes will begm, March 24, at Weber Human Services This 1s an eight
week program and will be held on Fndays at noon Lunch will be provided, people who plan to
attend need to RSVP to reserve a meal More mformation on this senes Will be sent out
There will be three shred events located at different semor centers m Apnl GHS volunteered
the Golden Hours as a locatiOn for this event More mformation to come

Received 5310 funds for UTA vouchers for transportation outside of Weber County. People Will
be required to find their own transportatiOn and vouchers Will be given for mileage
reimbursement. Approved for fundmg for replacement vans as well at one additional van for the
Ride. Gene mqwred about the Food Tax Bill Paula informed the group that the ~ill was not
passed
Old Business: Tax preparatiOn with the AARP is going well and they are being kept busy. The
Field Trip to Antelope Island was mce with many ammals sighted. March holds St Patty's Day
events with the Ben Lomond Bagpipers performing on Thursday and corned beef and cabbage
Will be served on Fnday Paranormal Pulse Will be coming on Wednesday March 29and will
bring recordings for a 1 hour long presentatiOn. Wednesday, Apnl19th, Ogden C1ty Pohce Chief,
Randy Watt, will be coming to speak on commumty safety

was seconded by Robertson. All voted m favor. The meeting was adJourned at
