New Business a. Center Opening – Todd Skeen  Member and Supervisor of the Center updated the committee on the re-opening of the center which took place on July 6th, 2021.  The center’s rooms have all been cleaned out, re-organized, and are ready for classes to resume in Sept.  Kitchen has a new refrigerator, freezer, stove, and icemaker  The new front desk is being designed, and the LED lights and light fixtures are next to be done.  They are looking into outside lights and cameras  The AC has been down for 2 weeks, possibly contributing to low attendance  The new assistant supervisor, Mckayla Thomas starts on Monday  They have a new registration platform that they are training employees on, and are currently looking to hire more employees  b. Marshall White Center – Staying Relevant in the Community  Edd Bridge addressed the committee by asking them how we can stay relevant in the community and effectively communicate with the community what the committee is doing, open discussion amongst the committee members produced the following:  Possible open house (once AC is fixed) branding material and items for the community when we are at events, continue contact with those that wanted to be contacted from the survey (email and text messages), be at community events with the concepts from VCBO and get input on them  The committee was updated on how the meetings are now being advertised to the public though social media and the website by staff member Sabrina Lee c. Open Seats on Committee – Edd Bridge  Edd Bridge let the committee know that we have open seats on the committee and following our ordinance they should be from voting district 1 and 2.  Sabrina Lee informed the committee of the City’s new policy on how applications are received. All applicants must fill out an online application through the city website under boards and commissions.  Chair White asked the committee for suggestions on how to recruit applicants, the committee made suggestions for social media and website postings to be done. 2. Public Comment – Limit to 3 minutes per person a. Participants are to state their name for the record. b. Comments which cannot be made within these limits should be submitted in writing to the committee at 1875 Monroe Blvd or by email (marshallwhiteadvisorycommittee@ogdencity.com)  Betty Sawyer – NAACP President Ogden Chapter o Betty asked if there was a timeline for budget projections and if the advisory committee was working on a finance plan o Betty asked about the lobby area of the center, and recommended that the area be transitioned as soon as possible with things that were more enticing for youth  Edd Bridge responded to this – He agrees that the area needs to transition, and it is being looked at currently and will be pulling the weight equipment out of the area o Betty announced that the NAACP was hosting Blake Moore at the center for a town hall meeting on August 27th and would like to partner with the advisory committee on the event.
