Welcome and Call to Order – Susan Campbell
Approval of June minutes.
Motion to approve – Shane Osguthorpe & Camille Washington
BRT – Christy McBride
Christy McBride gave a presentation to the committee about putting art on the UTA
stations in Ogden. She went over the budget, art call and details about this opportunity. The
public art sub-committee will go over the presentation and come up with a plan on what they
would like to see as they move forward.
Subcommittee Update – Susan Campbell & Jake McIntire
Susan went over the sub-committee info and wanted to know about dropping some and
possible adding categories together as one. Another suggestion was to have sub-committee check-
ins for topics that can be discussed before the arts meeting agenda and minutes would be done at
each meeting too. Outside people are allowed to be part of the sub-committees. The topic of
everyone’s role including Ogden ACE in all the events etc. can also be discussed. This was
started before covid where each sub-committee had a chairperson setting up meetings and go over
pressing topics then present to the committee.
It was brought up about the 3–5-year plan that Jessica and Christy were working on.
The application process to be part of the OCAAC is being finalized by city administration
and the committee will be award of the changes to help spread the word about open positions.
Events– Regina Esparza
Mayor Awards in the Arts nominations are open through August 27. Everyone should
send out the info and share the social media posts to their contacts.
First Friday Art Stroll had quite a bit of people out and about especially for a holiday
weekend. There was live music all on 25th Street, pop-up locations and people out having a good
time.
Pop-up Events for Members was a success at the Ogden Arts Festival, and at The Corner
when Michael Palumbo had a pop-up spot sharing the Untamed Pops Concert info. If anyone is
wanting to be at The Corner during Farmers Market or during the Art Stroll, please let Gina know
so she can have the info at The Corner ready.
Beacon Funding – Lorie Buckley
The sculpture on the NE corner of the Dumke Arts plaza is needing more funding. Jake
met with the subcommittee and shared a presentation of their thoughts to move forward. The
amount being requested from the Art fund is $30k however the committee only wants to approve
$25k and had a few contingencies. The motion was approved by all members.
Action taken-$30k of minor public art funding was approved by the full committee for
the following two projects: $25,000 for the Beacon Sculpture -- $5,000 for a small
community art project that will benefit local artists.
Public Art – Lorie Buckley
The Don Rimx Event went awesome and was well attended. Now it is time to look at
another project to get started on. Lorie has a list that she will send out to the committee.
A new mural is going up on the Marketstar building by Cole Eisenhower about Inclusion.
Creative District – Lorie Buckley
