Virtual Zoom Meeting • Welcome and Call to Order – Jake McIntire, Chair • Approval of February Minutes • Motion to approve – Camille Washington • 2nd motion – Jan Hamer • Introduction of newly appointed voting Committee members Sam Gappmayer and Joel Kitamura – Jake McIntire, Chair • Brief bio of Gappmayer and Kitamura shared • Arts Grants Update – April Gruber • Received 34 grants requesting a total of $256,144 in funding • $160,020 in funding available to disperse in the 2023-2024 grant cycle • Reviewed process and timeline for Subcommittee funding recommendations, applicant notifications, and City Council approval • Received applicant and reviewer portal and application feedback o Clarified one-to-one matching funds requirement o Discussed application scoring trends • Public Art Decommissioning – Lorie Buckley • Public Art Subcommittee recommended the decommissioning of the following public art pieces: 23rd Street Climbers mural and Kiesel Avenue (Tents) o 23rd Street Climbers mural 1. Work is in disrepair, over 10 years old, and competing with the Grant Avenue Don Rimx murals 2. Artist has been notified of the intent to decommission a. Discussed acquiring an artist release to decommission the work i. To be discussed with Ogden City’s Legal department 3. Discussed public notification of the decommission 4. Motion to decommission the 23rd Street Climbers mural – Cam McLeod a. Motion passes unanimously o Kiesel Avenue (tents) 1. Artist is not interested to repair the work 2. Discussed work’s existing cable structures remaining intact and functional a. Opportunity for future public art projects to use existing cabling 3. Motion to decommission the Kiesel Avenue (tents) – Jan Hamer a.
