3.1. Current events in the community - Chair
3.2. Jonathan Puente – Office of Fairness and Accountability, Utah Courts-

a. Jonathan Puente presented on the new Office of Fairness & Accountability for the
Utah Courts (please see meeting recording for full presentation).
3.3. Noella Sudbury and Ciara Gregovich- Clean Slate Utah -
https://www.cleanslateutah.org
a. Ciara Gregovich presented on the Clean Slate Utah program. This program will
remove most Class B & C and Infraction charges from a person’s criminal history
automatically based on the Clean Slate policies. Utah was second in the nation to
adopt these policies. Eligibility depends on what happened, how many offenses,
and when the offenses occurred. Information can be found at cleanslateutah.org
(see meeting recording for full presentation).
3.4. Functional Committee Leads –Chair
a. All members can find the google doc with the sub-committees and who is involved
in each committee. Please give input on what subcommittees you want kept or
combined and if anyone would like to chair a committee or be a member of a
committee. This will be talked about further in our next meeting.
3.5. Recommendations for City Council Recognitions for August 23 (Educators),
September 6 (Hispanic Heritage Month)—Chair
a. Please add any nominations to the google document for August and September.
Only 4 nominations will be taken for each month. Deadline for nominations will be
a week prior to the actual date.
4. Committee Reports.
4.1. Outreach-
a. Commissioner Szalay and Vice-Chair Jones would like to brainstorm ideas for
making the tabling more exciting. Possibly creating different activities during the
tabling events. Anyone that would like to join the outreach committee can give
their suggestions as well. Commissioner Tierney suggested having a polo shirt
with the Diversity Commission logo on it for events. Commissioner Tierney also
asked how the public could send comments/suggestions to the Commission from
tabling events. Vice-Chair Jones suggested possibly having a comment box at
tabling events or a written record. These can be given to CJ to bring to the
Commission.
b. August 7: Ogden Pride, Amphitheater- 11 to 7pm- Please sign up as a volunteer
c. August 16: Ogden’s Night Out Against Crime, Amphitheater- 5:30 to 7:30 pm
d. Back to school nights - Ogden High - Aug 18, Ben Lomond - (TBA)
5. Old Business- Christmas Village Cottage Project
a. The Diversity Commission needs to decide if they want to have a cottage at the
Christmas Village. This is quite an undertaking and if there is interest, it needs to
be decided ASAP. If there isn’t time this year, it can be done next year when there’s
time to properly plan it. Commissioner Tierney suggested we partner with other
organizations to get students involved in the creation of the cottage. Two cottages
are being held for the Diversity Commission. Commissioner Szalay has volunteered
to send a design by next month for this year's Christmas Village and this design can
be built on for the coming years.

a. Chair Bernal reminded everyone there will be no meeting in August and meetings
will be reconvened in September.
