Minutes of the meeting of the Natural Resources and Sustainability Stewardship Advisory Committee held Thursday, February 22nd, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. in-person at the city offices and via electronic web conferencing in accordance with Utah Code 52-4-202. Lorenzo called the roll. • Steve Burton, Shardae Jones, and Linda Lartigue introduced themselves. APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES • The January 25th, 2024 meeting minutes were approved unanimously. UPCOMING EVENTS • The committee discussed the upcoming Energy Wise Ogden Business Roundtable event that the Energy Wise Subcommittee is putting on. There will be speakers from the Thermwise and Wattsmart programs, Utah Clean Energy, and kW Engineering. • The committee discussed the upcoming Intermountain Sustainability Summit, and the keynote speaker Jeff Speck, a renowned urbanist and walkability expert. • Lorenzo said he would send flyers and information to the committee for both events so they could share it with whoever they wished. • The committee discussed the Weber Basin Water Garden Fair which is on June 1st, 2024. Lorenzo mentioned that Stephanie volunteered to help develop materials for the table. • The committee wants to do the Ogden Farmers Market again this summer. Lorenzo will send out a Google Form with all event dates so committee members can indicate which days we are available. The committee could accept recyclables at the Farmers Market tent. DIVERSITY COMMISSION + NRSSC COMMUNITY MEMBER COUNCIL RECOGNITION 1|Page  • Every so often, the Diversity Commission recognizes an individual or organization during a city council meeting, and they want to partner with the NRSSC to recognize somebody doing good work in the sustainability realm, as April is “Earth Month”. • The committee suggested Grow Ogden as a potential entity to recognize, but will suggest others via email for the Diversity Commission to consider. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS • Energy Wise Subcommittee o See the “upcoming events” section for subcommittee report • EV Charging/Parking Subcommittee o The subcommittee presented an update on their EV parking/charging report. Lorenzo said he would send their draft report to Barton Brierley, Ogden Planning Manager. o The committee discussed which way to report growth of electric vehicles in the Ogden area. The committee wanted to make sure to report the numbers conservatively while still remaining accurate. o Using the Department of Energy’s EVI-Pro tool, the Ogden-Clearfield Metropolitan Area will need around 18,000 charging ports, including 461 public Level 2 charge ports (currently there are 156 public Level 2). The majority of the required 18,000 ports would be in residential dwellings or in associated parking lots. o The update presentation can be seen in its entirety in the recording posted on the Ogden City website. • Recycling Subcommittee o No update at this time. Their next meeting is in March.
