Minutes of the meeting of the Sustainability Committee held Thursday, August 22nd, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. in-person at the city offices and via electronic web conferencing in accordance with Utah Code 52-4-202. Dan outlined committee attendance rules, which require members to attend 75% of meetings, and not miss more than 3 meetings in a row. The committee only has one spot remaining, which is for a high school student. Lorenzo called the roll. APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES • Julez made a motion to approve the August 22nd, 2024 meeting minutes. Lena seconded the motion. The meeting minutes were unanimously approved. HOLIDAY 2024 MEETING DATE CHANGES • The committee changed the following meeting dates due to the holidays: o November 28, 2024 changed to November 21, 2024 o December 26, 2024 changed to December 19, 2024 UPCOMING EVENTS • The committee discussed logistics for the upcoming Twilight Concert recycling events. • The committee discussed Farmers Market logistics, who would be able to attend, and what materials to have at the table. • The committee discussed the upcoming annual report presentation to City Council on September 3rd. 1|Page ANNUAL REPORT DEVELOPMENT • Dan presented the draft annual report slides, and requested any final information from subcommittee chairs in order to finalize the presentation. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS • Energy Wise Subcommittee o Erika volunteered to take over as subcommittee chair in Dan’s place. • EV Charging/Parking Subcommittee o Working on code language suggestions and potential city-sponsored charging locations, as well as quantities needed. • Recycling Subcommittee o Continuing to focus on Twilight Concert Series recycling. Over 250 pounds have been collected so far, and the recycling bin with signage on it has been very effective. PUBLIC COMMENTS • N/A OPEN DISCUSSION • Lena mentioned the call for speaker proposals for the Intermountain Sustainability Summit in March 2025. The theme is Regeneration. Anyone can submit a proposal, and the deadline is October 25th. Speakers get free registration. • Erika asked about scheduling more regular check ins with the city council. Lorenzo suggested bringing it up in the committee’s annual report presentation. He also mentioned that Steve is on the committee as the council liaison, and he could continue to ask the council to provide comments and feedback to the committee.
