City of Olathe City Council 100 E. Santa Fe | Council Chamber Thursday | January 5, 2023 | 5:30 PM 1. CALL TO ORDER Present: McCoy, Bacon, Gilmore, and Essex Absent: Mickelson, Vogt, and Felter 2. EXECUTIVE SESSION Consideration of motion to recess into an executive session to discuss the following items: A. Personnel matters of non-elected personnel pursuant to the exception provided in K.S.A.75-4319(b)(1) regarding the second Municipal Judge position. Motion by Gilmore, seconded by Vogt, to recess into an executive session to discuss personnel matters of non-elected personnel pursuant to the exception provided in K.S.A.75-4319(b)(1) regarding the second Municipal Judge position for 30 minutes with the open meeting resuming in the Council Chambers at 6:00 PM. The Motion carried with the following vote: Yes: McCoy, Bacon, Gilmore, and Essex Absent: Mickelson, Vogt, and Felter Councilmember Vogt arrived at 5:34 P.M. Councilmember Felter arrived at 5:35 P.M. Councilmember Mickelson arrived at 5:57 P.M. At 6:00 P.M., the open meeting was resumed and Mayor Bacon made a motion to recess into executive session for an additional 15 minutes, resuming in council chambers at 6:15 P.M. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Gilmore and the motion carried with a 7-0 vote. Present: Mickelson, McCoy, Bacon, Vogt, Gilmore, Felter, and Essex 3. RECONVENE FROM EXECUTIVE SESSION Motion by Gilmore, seconded by Vogt, to authorize staff to proceed with the hiring process for the 2nd municipal judge position as discussed with and directed by the Page 1 of 2 City Council Meeting Minutes January 5, 2023 Governing Body. The motion carried with the following vote: Yes: Mickelson, McCoy, Bacon, Vogt, Gilmore, Felter, and Essex 4.
