ROLL CALL Present: 7 - Mayor Cheryl Selby, Mayor Pro Tem Clark Gilman, Councilmember Jim Cooper, Councilmember Yến Huỳnh, Councilmember Dani Madrone, Councilmember Lisa Parshley and Councilmember Dontae Payne 2. BUSINESS ITEM 2.A 22-0122 Discussion with Olympia School District Regarding a Potential Secondary School Colocation at Yelm Highway Community Park Mayor Selby introduced the guests who gave presentations. Parks, Arts and Recreation Director Paul Simmons shared a brief overview of the process thus far. Berger Partnership Principal Andy Mitton gave a high level summary of the process and analysis of the Yelm Highway Park/Olympia School District co-location proposal, along with an overview of the concerns and responses to concerns presented by the Parks, Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee. Olympia School District Superintendent Patrick Murphy and Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Priddy gave an overview of the Olympia School District's request to co-locate a school on the Yelm Highway Park parcel and shared the ongoing and long-term space needs for the School District. Parks, Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee Chair Maria Ruth shared the perspective and recommendation of the Committee. School Board President Maria Flores shared the perspective of the School Board regarding co-location of the park and a school. Councilmembers asked clarifying questions. The Council agreed to continue discussion with Mr. Simmons at the end of the 7:00 p.m. business meeting as an added Other Business item.
